I hope you have all had a good summer, despite the weather! As I write this, we are
acknowledging the fifth anniversary of the credit crunch and the global slowdown.
Who could have known back in 2008 that it was going to be so challenging for so long?
I have been fortunate as the President of DACC, to meet so many members and hear

their creative thinking, collaborative working, diversification, exporting, mergers and
acquisitions, new product development and retraining and re-skilling of their staff.

I can imagine that some people reading this may be thinking “this doesn’t help my
situation”, but I believe that the best thing anyone can do is to take some time over
the coming months to focus on working ON your business as opposed to IN your
business. A simple and effective way to do this is by attending DACC events, so you
