Proofed by Pat Baxter Language Services. Printed by Let’s Talk Print. Dear Member CONTENTS: I hope you have all had a good summer, despite the weather! As I write this, we are acknowledging the fifth anniversary of the credit crunch and the global slowdown. Who could have known back in 2008 that it was going to be so challenging for so long? I have been fortunate as the President of DACC, to meet so many members and hear 4 New Members how they are facing these challenging times head on. It has been inspiring to hear about their creative thinking, collaborative working, diversification, exporting, mergers and acquisitions, new product development and retraining and re-skilling of their staff. 8 Bring a Friend I can imagine that some people reading this may be thinking “this doesn’t help my situation”, but I believe that the best thing anyone can do is to take some time over the coming months to focus on working ON your business as opposed to IN your business. A simple and effective way to do this is by attending DACC events, so you 12 Energy News can take time away from your business to meet new people, hear new ideas, share new learning, expand your networks and make valuable life long contacts. By the time that you read this DACC will have held its largest and most successful 16 Montrose Port Authority AGM, and will be in the hands of a new Board of Directors who have a clear and ambitious vision for the future. Their vision cannot become reality without continued member engagement, so please make sure you get, and stay, involved! 20 Innovation & Technology My time as the President of DACC has been demanding and challenging, yet ultimately rewarding. It has been a pleasure to see the Chamber continue to grow and a huge honour and a privilege to lead DACC and serve the members. 23 Ask the Coach I wish you great success over the coming months and years.
