EARLY INTERVENTION CENTRE FOR INFANTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENT IN 29 DISTRICTS. 1 Gist of the Scheme Infant and young children with hearing impairment are given training to develop speech and language skills so as to get integrated into normal School by the time they attain the age of 5 years. 2 Eligibility Criteria for admission Young children with hearing impairment without any additional disabilities in the age group of 0-3 years are eligible for admission 3 Whether form of application is Yes. EARLY INTERVENTION CENTRE FOR THE MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN 1 Gist of the Scheme Early intervention centres for mentally retarded children have been established in all the districts to benefit 50 Children in each district. These centres have been established through NGOs. The main objective of these centres is to identify children with mental retardation and children with allied disabilities at birth and to provide early intervention services including early detection and identification (0-6 years). 2 Eligibility Criteria Children with mental retardation and allied disabilities in the age group of 0-6 Years. 3 Whether application form is Yes. SPECIAL EDUCATION 1 Gist of the Scheme Government provide free special education,vocational training,boarding and lodging,every year four sets of uniform and text books given free of cost for Visually impaired, hearing impaired, Government schools. Government provide Teaching Grant,Feeding Grant Non-Government Organization for Mentally retarded and Locomotor disability special schools. 2 Eligibility Criteria Differently abled children aged 5 years and above (in case of hearing impaired children: 2 years and above). 3 Whether prescribed application Yes.
