Its application in distributed environ- ments, such as internet, electronic commerce, environment monitoring, mobile com- munications,wirelessdevices,distributedcomputing,tomentiononlyafew,iscontin- uouslyincreasing,becominganelementofhighaddedvaluewithsocialandeconomic potential,inindustry,qualityoflifeandresearch.Thesetechnologiesarechangingcon- stantly as a result of the large research and technical effort being undertaken in both universitiesandbusinesses. The11th InternationalSymposiumonDistributedComputingandArtificialIntelli- gence 2014 (DCAI 2014) is a forum to present applications of innovative techniques forsolvingcomplexproblemsintheseareas.Theexchangeofideasbetweenscientists and technicians from both the academic and industrial sector is essential to facilitate the developmentof systems thatcan meetthe ever-increasingdemandsof today’sso- ciety.Thepresenteditionbringstogetherpastexperience,currentworkandpromising futuretrendsassociatedwithdistributedcomputing,artificialintelligenceandtheirap- plication in orderto provideefficientsolutionsto real problems.This conferenceis a stimulating and productive forum where the scientific community can work towards futurecooperationinDistributedComputingandArtificialIntelligenceareas.
