Cacioppo is the Tiffany and Margaret Blake Distinguished Service Professor and Direc- tor of the Center for Cognitive and Social Neuroscience at the University of Chicago. He is the Chair of the Psychol- ogy Section of the American Association for the Advance- ment of Science and the President of the Society for Social Neuroscience, and he is a past President of four other sci- entific societies including the Association for Psychological Science. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the National Academy of Sciences Troland Research Award, the American Psychological Association Distinguished Sci- entific Contribution Award, the Society for Experimental Social Psychology Scientific Impact Award, the Presidential Citation from the American Psychological Association, and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology Theo- retical Innovation Prize. He has served as Editor and Associate Editor of various journal boards, and currently serves on the Council of the Center for Scientific Review at the National Institutes of Health. Laura A. Freberg is Professor of Psy- chology at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where she teaches courses in Introductory Psy- chology, Biological Psychology, and Sensation and Percep- tion.
