It is a public agency funded by the Alaska seafood industry, the state of Alaska and the federal government. ASMI promotes Alaska seafood throughout the U.S. and in 27 countries across the globe. ASMI also provides promotional materials, education and training to the seafood industry in food safety and quality assurance practices. MISSION The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute is a marketing organization with the mission of increasing the economic value of the Alaska seafood resource through: • Increased positive awareness of the Alaska Seafood brand • Collaborative marketing programs that align ASMI and industry market- ing efforts for maximum impact within the food industry • Long-term proactive marketing planning • Quality assurance, technical industry analysis, education, advocacy and research • Prudent, efficient fiscal management • Championing the sustainability of Alaska’s seafood harvests resulting from existing Alaska fisheries management imperatives. Each program designs distinctive promotional and educational materials to assist businesses. They also perform outreach at expositions and trade shows. The Technical program works in collaboration with the marketing programs by researching and developing educational materials and programs on how to maintain seafood quality from harvest to market. FOODSERVICE MARKETING PROGRAM About ASMI Foodservice The domestic foodservice marketing program is designed to help foodservice operators, commercial and non-commercial, handle, design menus for and promote wild Alaska seafood. ASMI works with all segments of the foodservice industry to increase awareness and broaden the demand for wild and sustainable Alaska seafood and offers expertise on the latest seafood and eating trends. Each year new foodservice recipes are developed by working with chefs to create signature dishes using Alaska seafood.
