Directory for Older people Living in Midlothian 2102 Thanks to the Following LCiL rights & choices Motability Department for work pensions Logo’s used by kind permission of contributors to this Directory. 1st Edition, 2012 1 Foreword There is an old adage that says ‘Information is power.’ This is certainly true for Older people. Without correct, relevant and up to date information Older people can become isolated, unable to exercise their rights and receive the support they need and make their own choices on how they want to live. I know from personal experience the frustration older citizens often feel; Who could help me with the mysteries of the benefts system? Who could I contact for help and support? Who could help me live an ordinarily life? Where can I get this information? The purpose of this directory is to help Older people, their families or carers, fnd practical, useful information which could help improve their lives. To fnd answers as well as solutions to the everyday problems which still seem part of the territory for Older people. This is by no means an exhaustive list of contacts that have all the answers but I’m sure that if the group or organisation you contact can’t help you then they will know someone who can. I sincerely hope you fnd this directory useful. Use it well !
