The TPDL conference brings together researchers, developers, and data experts in the field of digital libraries. This year’s theme was “Connecting with Communities.” Digital libraries and repositories store, manage, represent, and disseminate rich and heterogeneous data that are often of enormous cultural, scientific, educational, artistic, andsocialvalue.Servingasdigitalecosystemstheyprovideunparalleledopportunities for novel knowledge extraction and discovery. To become especially useful to the diverseresearchandpractitionercommunities, digitallibrariesneedtoconsiderspecial needs and requirements for effective data utilization, management, and exploitation. TPDL2019attemptedtofacilitateestablishingconnectionsandconvergencesbetween diverse research communities such as Digital Humanities, Information Sciences, and othersthatcouldbenefitfrom(andcontributeto)ecosystemsofferedbydigitallibraries and repositories. Our two keynote speakers have embodied this year’s focus: Sally Chambers from the University of Ghent has played a key role in the setup of digital humanities infrastructure, while Krisztian Balog from the University of Stavanger is a leading researcher on intelligent information access. Fromthe75paperssubmittedtotheconference,theProgramCommitteeselected16 long papers and 12 short papers. In addition, 18 posters and demonstrations were presented, as an attempt to showcase the diversity of ongoing efforts and encourage more cross-community discussions. This year’s workshops also illustrate our community outreach efforts, with the 5th International Workshop on Computational History (HistoInformatics 2019) and the 19th European NetworkedKnowledgeOrganisation Systems (NKOS) Workshop. The conferenceprogramalsoincludedadoctoralconsortiumandatutorialontheMemento Tracer Framework for Scalable High-Quality Web Archiving. The success of TPDL 2019 was a result of the teamwork of many individuals. We would like to thank the Program Committee members for their careful assessment of submitted contributions, Ricardo Campos and Mickaël Coustaty (poster and demon- stration chairs), Jose Borbinha, Avishek Anand and Nils Pharo (doctoral consortium chairs), Milena Dobreva and Giannis Tsakonas (workshop chairs), and the local organization team. In addition, we warmly acknowledge the financial support of our sponsors and all of the support we have received from Oslo Metropolitan University.
