Devi Gita is a sacred Hindu scripture that expounds on the nature of the Divine Mother or Goddess. It is an excerpt from the "Srimad Devi Bhagavata Purana," the most important Purana for the Saktas. Saktas are the follower of Saktism, one of the denominations of Hinduism. They worship the Mother Goddess. Srimad Devi Bhagavad Purana has 12 sections. The last 10 chapters (chapters 31 - 40) of the 7th section comprise Devi Gita. It is structured as a dialogue. It is considered a revered text, especially by the Saktas. It is also studied by scholars and spiritual seekers for its profound insights into the nature of the Divine. The Devi Bhagavad Purana was translated into English by Swami Vijnanananda in 1921. The text of this edition of the Devi Gita is taken from his translation.
