Description:
This book is very narrowly focused on a few whistleblowers in various
Federal Agencies and it goes into a lot of detail about their cases. I
was not really that interested in any particular whistleblower, but I am
intested on one of them--Ottto Otepka. Mollenhoff is one of the rare
places to read and gain perspective on Otto Otepka. Otepka was a
security employee at the US State Department who was investigating Lee
Harvey Oswald for some reason not yet known. Otepka has a whole chapter
in Despoilers of Democracy. Also, Mollenhoff was a personal friend and
advisor to Robert F. Kennedy.
Review by Paul Hite
Like the other reviewer, I bought this book only for the Otto Otepka
case. But with me it was personal. My father is Haary Hite who is
mentioned on page 263 as one of the men punished for supporting Otepka.
I didn't realize what my father was enduring while was was raising a
family, but I did meet most of the principals in this case. It was very
interesting reading.
