Abstract Anewspecies, Lipromorp11a tnexpectataisdescribedon thebasisof
thespecimenscollectedfromOkinoerabu-jimaIslandofKagoshimaPrefecture,South-
west Japan. Key to theJapanesespeciesof thegenus Lipromorphaismodifiedby
addingthepresentnewspecies.
Inthepreviousrevision(KoMIYA,2006),twomembersof thegenusLipromorpha
CHOJ0et KIMoTo,1960wererecordedfromthesouthwesternislandsofJapan. One
was L. 1oochooana CHOJ0, 1961 from Amami-0shima, Tokuno-shimaandOkinawa
Islands, Kagoshimaand OkinawaPrefectures, theother L. sakishimanaY. KoMIYA,
2006fromMiyako-jima,Ishigaki-jimaandTaketomi-jimaIslands,OkinawaPrefecture.
ThethirdspecieswasfoundinOkinoerabu-jimaIslandofKagoshimaPrefecturebymy
recent fieldsurvey, and isdescribedasanewspeciesin thepresentpaper. Keyto the
Japanesespeciesofthegenusbymypreviousrevision (KoMIYA,2006),ismodifiedby
addingthepresent newspecies.
Lipromorpha inexpectatasp n ov.
(Figs.1&2)
M a le. Body elongate,blackishbrown, withmouth-part,clypeus, frons, basal
fivesegmentsofantennae,basalhalvesofelytra,proximalportionsoffemora,tibiaeand
tarsi lightbrown.
Head slightly narrower than the apical width of prothorax; clypeus trigonal,
delimitedfromlabrumwithshallowtransversedepression,lowridgesat lateralportions,
finelygranulateonsurface; inter-antennalareanarrow,withadeeplongitudinalsulcus
continuingtoashallow longitudinal depression on vertex; frontal tuberclesoblong,
contiguous; vertex finely granulate, scattered with large hair-bearing punctures on
lateralandposteriorportions.
Antennaeslender, about 7/8 timesas long as body; first segment the longest,
club-shaped,secondandthirdenchaboutahalf inlengthto first,secondalittlethicker
thanthird,fourthslightlylongerthanthird,followingthreesegmentseachalittlelonger
than fourth, almost equal in length to each other,seventhslightly thicker than sixth,

Pronotumveryslightlylongerthanwide(pronota1ratio=pronota1breadth/length:
0.96), widest at anteriorangles, withstrongconstrictionsbehindmiddle(constriction
ratio=maximal pronota1breadth/minimal breadth: 1.29), and with another weak
constriction just behind anterior corners; surfacedistinctlyshagreened throughout,
scatteredwithhair-bearingpunctures,withabisinuatedepressionbehindmiddle,which
continues tostrongconstrictionsatsides.
Scutellumtriangular,finelygranulateonsurface,withseveralhairsalongposterior
margin.
Elytraelongateandparallel-sided, withprominent humeral calli;surfaceconvex,
with a wideand shallow transverse depression near basal third;surfacecovered with
regularrowsofpunctures,scutellarrowpresent,thefifthrowbifurcatingattransverse

depression,anteriorportionofthesixthabsent,appearingatabout bifurcatingpoint of
the fifth, from the seventh to the eleventh running on the vertical planeof elytra;
intersticesshiningbutminutelypunctured,witha row of erect hairs.
Undersideshining, with weak transversecorrugations,scattered with longhairs;
lastvisibleabdominalsternitetrilobed,central lobewithtriangulardepressionatmiddle
onposteriorpart,apexbroadlytruncate.
Legsslender,with femoraslightlyincrassate.
Malegenitalia (Fig 2) straight, ventralsideevenlyconvex in lateral view,with
apexsharplybentdorsad.
Fernale. Bodyblackishbrown, withundersideof headincludingmouth-part,
clypeus, frons, antennaeexcept forapical threesegments, elytraand legs totally light
brown. Antennaedistinctlyshorter thanmale,about3/4timesaslongasbody. Last
visibleabdominalsterniteentireonapex.
Body length:male,2.14± 0.08(n=26)mm, female,2.35± 0.14(n=14)mm.
Bodybreadth:male,0.87± 0.04(n=26)mm, female,0.99± 0.06(n=14)mm.
Pronota1ratio:male,0.97± 0.03(n=26),female,1.00± 0.03 (n=l4).
Constrictionratio:male,1.34±0.05(n=26), female,1.37± 0.03 (n=14).

- Vertex evenly convex. Frons with a large depression at centre, inter-antennal
longitudinalsulcusbifurcatingat frontaldepressionintoY-shapedsulcuswhich
delimitsposterior end of frontal tubercles. Upper surface totally pitchy, or
reddish brown, though rarelybico1orous. Male genitalia uniformly arcuate
dorsadin lateralview,with terminalprocessshort andevenly roundedat apex;

部島でえられたリュウキュウクビボソトビハムシ属Lipromorpha(ハムシ科トビハムシm:l・l)の1
種を,オキノェラブクビポソトビハムシL tnex;pectataspnov.(新極新称)として記載した. また
前報で作成した目本産Lipromorpha属の検索表に本新?重1を加えて改訂した.
