TWoSpeciesofthemembersofthecassidinegenusNotosacantha CHEvRoLAT,
1837,havehithertobeenrecorded fromtheRyukyuArchipelago,SouthwestJapan.
OneisN1oochooana(CHuJ0,1961)fromAmami-0hshimaIs.,KagoshimaPref.,and
theother isN. ihai (CHuJ0,1958) fromAkusekijimaandAmami_0hshima Isis.,

Description. Bodysubquadrate.Coloryellowishbrown,withmouth-parts,eyes,
eIyt「alcostaeandtuberclesandclawsdarkbrown.Pronota1andelytra1expansjonmore
orlesstransparentwithoutanydarkpigmentation.
Head with exposeddorsalsurfacedepressed; prolongation cleft deeply in the
middleatapex,interocularspacewithashallowmediansulcus,whichatthelevelof

Elytron as broad at base as pronotum, punctate-striate; punctures far9e and
rounded;suturewithashallowdepressionbetweenbasaltube℃11es,wherethescutellar
rowofpuncturesends,andthenceslightlyraised;dorsumwiththreeprominenttuber-
clestogetherwithseveralminoroneslininginroughlytworows; inthemedial line
from anterior toposterior,basal tuberclesecondhighest and longitudinally raised,
majntubercleatpost-medianportionhighestandsharplypointed,posterioronethird
highestandbluntlypointed,post-apicalonealmostindistinct,allofthesetuberclesare
connectedwithalongitudinalcosta;inthelateralline fromtheanteriortoposterior,
humeraltuberclerelativelyprominent,post-humeralonesmall,marginalonesmalland
transverselyraised,againtheseareconnectedwithalaterallineofcosta;inadditionto
twolongitudinal ridges,therearethreetransverseridgesondorsum,connectingbasal
withhumeralandapicalwithmarginaltubercles,andrunningfrommaintobothdirec-
tions; lateral expansionofelytronwitharowofsmall hyalinespotsalongexternal
marginandmanylargeronesofirregularshapeinthemedialportion.

Thenamingofthedisca1tuberclesoftheelytronfollowsSPEATH(1931).
Thepresent newspecies isclosely alliedtoNotosacantha1oochooana (CHUJ0,
1961) fromAmami-0hshimaIslan Japan(Fig 2),whichwasfirstdescribedasasub-
speciesofthefollowingspecies,thenraisedtoadistinctonebyKIMoTo(1983),andto
N castanea (SpAETH, 1913) fromVietnam,Thailan China, Hainan Islandand Tai-
wan,butitiseasilydistinguishedfromthembyhavingmoreevenlyroundedexternal
marginofthepronota1expansionandinlackingdarklypigmentedportionintheelytra1
expansion.

小宮義璋:沖縄本島産ヒラタカメノコハムシのl新種. - 沖系過本島北部に生息するヒラタ
カメノコハムシの1新種, Notosaca,1tha,1ishiya,nal Y. KoMIYA,sp nov.キイロヒラタカメノコハ
ムシ (新称) を記載した.本種は奄美大島に分布するNotosacant/,a/coo/,ooa,Ia(CHuJ0,1961)チ
ヤイロヒラタカメノコハムシおよびウェトナム, タイ, 中国, 海南島および台湾から知られて
いるN.castanea(SpAETH,1913)ヒラタカメノコハムシによく似てぃるが, 前胸外縁がより一様
な円弧を描くこと, および翅鞘辺縁部に暗色斑をまったく欠くことなどにより容易に区別が可
能である.
