Background.Developmentofnon-deqicontrolisstillachallenge.Thisstudyaimstosetupapotentialapproachtonon-deqicontrol
byusinglidocaineanesthesiaatST36.Methods.FortyhealthyvolunteerswererecruitedandtheyreceivedtwofMRIscans.Onewas
accompaniedwithmanualacupunctureatST36(DQgroup),andanotherwasassociatedwithbothlocalanesthesiaandmanual
acupunctureatthesameacupoint(LAgroup).Results.ComparingtoDQgroup,morethan90percentdeqisensationswerereduced
bylocalanesthesiainLAgroup.ThemainlyactivatedregionsinDQgroupwerebilateralIFG,S1,primarymotorcortex,IPL,
thalamus,insula,claustrum,cingulategyrus,putamen,superiortemporalgyrus,andcerebellum.Surprisinglyonlycerebellum
showedsignificantactivationinLAgroup.Comparedtothetwogroups,bilateralS1,insula,ipsilateralIFG,IPL,claustrum,and
contralateralACCwereremarkablyactivated.Conclusions.LocalanesthesiaatST36isabletoblockmostofthedeqifeelingsand
inhibit brain responses to deqi, which would be developed into a potential approach for non-deqi control. Bilateral S1, insula,
