In my experience, the in- dividuals selected forthese honors have had remarkable achievements and have provided dedicated service to their universities and communities. This year's honorees are no exception. I extend my congratulations to JeffRoss Capw^ell, Carolyn Manning, Spring Heflin, and Caroline Gaines forbeing selected as the 2002 hon- orees. JeffRoss has established music scholarships available to members ofthe Delta State University band and has enabled more than one hundred young people to allow music to be a flilfilling part oftheir education. His generous contribution ofnaming apart ofthe Bologna PerfoiTningArts Center in honor ofhis family helps ensure that the arts continue to be a central feature ofouruniversity.
