DEER Response Data Summary License Year 1999 Montana State Library : « wtSj To: Jeff Herbert, Candy Hinz From: Steve Martin Date: 5/23/2000 Subject: LY99 Deer Response Data Analysis - Survey Return Rates To assist in evaluating the effectiveness of current approaches to conducting Harvest Surveys, and improving them, I have produced this brief summary of License Year 1999 deer survey response return counts and rates by various survey related factors. Labels = # labels generated. Sports = # sportspersons labels were generated for. Resp Y = # returned and used in analysis, Pcnt_Y = Return Rate as a percent. This table shows overall return rates by survey form (CBG=N Combo Big Game, CDE=N Combo Deer, DEE= Standard Deer). Non-resident surveys are mailed, resident are mostly phone interviews. The very low return by Type 20 holders may be an artifact of low population size. Note returns for Combos are lowest for holders owning the Outfitter version. I have no explanation for why return rates for resident mail surveys are so much lower than for non-resident. Perhaps the absence of a valid phone number for a sportsperson is highly correlated with the absence of a valid mailing address as well.
