Ph.D. DECODING THE ENOCH IAN SECRETS "By all accounts, Dr. John Dee played a major role in world his tory, shaping politics, scientific thought, and occultism for cen turies. The highly influential ‘Enochian’ system of magic origi nated in his ‘mystical experiments/ of which he kept meticulous records. Yet the centerpiece of his system has never before been published— an enigmatic book that Dee clearly regarded as a monumental gift from God to humanity, communicated through his angels. John DeSalvo has done a wonderful job putting to gether all the pieces scattered throughout Dee's manuscripts, in cluding an accessible and systematic introduction. DeSalvo pro vides valuable suggestions for exploring the book, including meditations and spiritual exercises developed over his many years of investigating Dee’s published and unpublished works. Definitely recommended.” JOSEPH PETERSON, AUTHOR OF JOHN DEE’S FIVE BOOKS OF MYSTERY DECODING t h e EN O C H IA N SECRETS God's Most Holy Book to Mankind as Received by Dr. John Dee from Angelic Messengers THE ORIGINAL TEXT WITH COMMENTARY BY JOHN DeSALVO. Ph.D. OCfIM Destiny Books Rochester. Vermont • Toronto. Canada I would like to dedicate this book to the following people: My parents, John and Nina DeSalvo; My wife, Valerie, and my children, Christopher, Stephen, Paul, and Veronica; And of course to Dr. John Dee, who made this all possible. I’m immeasurably indebted to my very close friends Marty and Judy Stuart for their constant help and encouragement and espe cially to )udy for reading the entire manuscript and making in valuable suggestions. Joseph Peterson explained to me the organization and makeup of the Tables in the Book of Enoch, especially the first leaf. I’m also very grateful to him for permission to quote from his most excellent and valuable book John Dee's Five Books of Mystery. There are very few people in the world that one is eternally grateful to, but Jon Graham is one of those people in my life. He is responsible for seeing that my most important spiritual books are published. To my editor Anne Dillion. This is the third book Anne has as sisted me with, for which I am thankful. A very special thanks to Jeanie Levitan, the managing editor for Inner Traditions. No managing editor could take more interest in all the books she publishes and try to make them the best they could be. Her personal editorial assistance made this historic book into something that we are all very proud of. The first leaf is comprised of twenty-eight pages of forty-nine paragraphs of Enochian words as well a small table of nine lines of forty-nine letters per line on the twenty-eighth page. The front side of the first leaf is shown in illustrations 1 through 20 on pages Q2-112. The back side of the first leaf begins on page 112. Dee included line numbers in the left margins to indicate each of the forty-nine-words paragraphs. Whenever a line or paragraph at the bottom of a page is carried over to the next page, I have in cluded an a and b designation in the figure caption (e.g. line 5a, 5b, etc.). Reminder: The first paragraph on the back side of the first leaf was incorrectly labeled 2 and is shown crossed out and correctly labeled 1 (see illustration 21 on page in ). Dee renumbered all the subsequent paragraphs to correctly identify the passages on the back side. So when we review the numbered paragraphs on the back side, we must not reference the numbers crossed out in the squares but the corrected numbers that appear to their left. Previews diary entries that are not part of the Paragraph I of 49 words is line I of The number the first leaf 1 in the square marks the beginning of the front side of the first leaf
