She has recently exitJed her own organisation and now advises companies and individuals on all aspects of corporate strategy, 8 including fundraising, sales, employment and international growth. 1 She was appointed Non-E xecutive Chairperson for Blink Ltd, a new start- n up based in London, that raised $30M Series A funding in 2007. With a PhD J in Artificial Intelligence, his career at BAE Systems focused on autonomous robotics, developin8g an advanced telematics concept car before moving to internationa1l management consulting. n Following a successful flotation, Richard became a Fund Manager, w investing in many technology companies before setting up the UK’s first Homeland Security fund and subsequently leading an AIM-listed a investment plc as CEO. He is a board member and investor in several r private and pdublic companies, a mentor at the Judge Business School, and works extensively in the UK, Europe and China. Richard is primarily h based in Cambridge. t i W 9 Dealmaker (UK) 1 0 2 Alpesh Patel Financial Services, Media, Cyber Seceurity n Alpesh is responsible for India, Malaysia, Singapore and Southern China for u the GEP, dealing with the financial services, media and cyber security sectors. J He is founder of an asset managem ent company and a past member of the 8 Advisory Board of ICICI’s private banking division. He is a former columnist for the Financial Times, has autho1red 18 books and co-presented Bloomberg TV for three years. He is a former Visiting Fellow in business at Oxford University and is a qualified barrister.n w Alpesh was appointed by the Foreign Secretary to the UK India Roundtable, is a Board Member oaf the UKIBC and co-founder of TiE-UK. When US Congressional intern for Hon Eliot Engel he worked on lobbying the White r House on countries involved in international terrorism. d h t i W 9 Dealmaker (UK) 1 0 2 Anthony Sheehan e Digital Media, Digital Health, Software, Telecommunications n u Anthony works with start-ups and growing enterprises from across Europe and North America. An active entrepreJneur, he also has extensive experience in executive positions w ith large global technology companies 8 and VC funded start-ups. His primary areas of focus are mobile, internet, 1 software, analytics and digital health. n Anthony is currently founder and CEO at mobile news platform Near You w Now. Prior to this, he successfully established multiple new business lines in Europe and ran gloabal strategy for mobile marketing, location and personalisation trechnologies at Qualcomm. He has also led the successful European mardket-entry of multiple US software start-ups including Packetvideho and Urban Science. t i W 9 Dealmaker (UK) 1 0 2 Sarah Turner e Digital Media, Software n u Sarah has spent most of the last 20 years working in and around digital media in the UK, Europe, US and AsJia. She works with start-ups and growth stage companies as advis or, supporter and connector. Sarah 8 also helps larger organisations and multinationals develop their 1 peripheral vision, by identifying areas for innovation and the best partners and processes to help them deliver it. n w Sarah is the director of digital strategy company Turner Hopkins whose clients include BBaC, Ofcom and Thomson Reuters and the Founder of Angel Academrey, a pro-women (but not women only) angel investment group. d h t i W 9 Dealmaker (UK) 1 0 2 Eric van der Kleij Fintech, Blockchain e n Eric is a pioneering technology entrepreneur who founded FinTech u company Adeptra (sold to FICO in 2012) before helping establish UKTI's J Global Entrepreneur Programme. He then helped create the strategy and was appointed the first Chief Exec utive of the Tech City initiative by 10 8 Downing Street. 1 Following Tech City he mo ved to Canary Wharf where he created and led n Europe's largest FinTech and Smart City hub Level39 for Canary Wharf Group. Eric is founder wof specialist consultancy DV2C Ltd advising clients such as the FinTech Kickstart Accelerator in Zurich. Eric is Chairman of a the GEP Advisory Group, and is a volunteer member of the Tech London Advocates Advrisory Board.
