Appointed Position Application 1. What position do you want to hold for the upcoming calendar year? House Manager 2. What is your current cumulative GPA? 3.11 3. What makes you qualified to hold this position? I consider myself to be a strong “handy-man” and am capable of identifying areas in need of repairs. I am responsible, well organized, and dedicated. I am a naturally clean person that desires to live in a well- maintained house that we can be proud of. I am willing to sacrifice time and effort to ensure it is presentable at all times. I have a great relationship with Jody and am comfortable communicating and following through with any of the members of the executive board with any issues related to our housing. I can be the stern figure required to compel brothers into completing their chores or serve fines for damages. Crucially, I am extremely trustworthy and do not foresee any brother feeling uncomfortable with me holding keys to their doors. 4. What new ideas do you have for this position/what will you do differently from the previous position holder? I will assist the Vice President and President with all of their goals including…  Installation of faster internet  Painting lines in the parking lot  Transitioning one of the triples into a sleeping porch My goals include…  Replacement of Hrbek’s window within two weeks of my appointment  Immediately begin negotiating with PMC to get a permanent fix for the leaky roof  Installation of mandatory “Spring cleaning” once-per- term of the basement and other areas prone to extreme clutter  Negotiate with the executive board to purchase a sturdy, playground-grade basketball hoop  Repaint the lines in the basketball court  Involve pledges more in the maintenance of the house, including weeding and trash pickup  Organize the house manager’s closet  Organize the study files room  Paint a six-inch green stripe about 3 feet off the ground along the interior walls  Backlit our letters through the night  Establish more convenient waste management solutions with regards to battery and light bulb disposal and recycling  Obtaining a second bike rack for in front of the house  Repairing non-functioning door into the basement  Repair/replacement of second floor lighting Changes like these would improve the physical appearance of our house greatly, and ideally, keep live-in retention high as well as help reel in recruits. 5. Why do you want to hold this position? I want to take on more responsibility in this house. Ideally, I would have run for an elected position but I know that I do not yet have the experience or respect to take on such a task. I see this position as one where I can do a lot to improve the house as well as earn the respect of my brothers and demonstrate my drive to improve this house so that next election cycle I can take on a bigger role. 6. What other time commitments do you have that would affect your role in holding this position? I am taking twelve credits and have no employment.
