AMINI AMIR BIN ABDULLAH (AS AT 22nd JANUARY 2017) CURRENTLY AT: DEPARTMENT OF NATIONHOOD (GOVERNMENT) AND CIVILIZATION STUDIES FACULTY OF HUMAN ECOLOGY UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA 43400 SERDANG SELANGOR MALAYSIA 4 CAREER EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Amini Amir Abdullah joined the Faculty of Human Ecology, Universiti Putra of Malaysia (UPM) as a tutor in December 1995. In December 1996, he was awarded the Universiti Putra Malaysia’s SLAB scholarship to pursue a doctorate in Islamic Studies at Center For The Study of Islam and Christian-Muslim Relations, Selly Oak Colleges, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. He worked on a thesis entitled “Islamic Revivalism in Malaysia: The Response of The Non-Muslims With Special Reference To The Lembah Pantai Constituency”. He completed his thesis in December 2000 after which he returned to become a lecturer. In 2013, he was appointed as the expert assessor by Media Control Branch, Research Divison, Department of Islamic Advancement of Malaysia (JAKIM), Putrajaya, Malaysia and he also was appointed as assessor by Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM) in 2015. In 2011, Amini was awarded a fellowship fund from the European Union as a visiting scholar under Erasmus Mundus Eurasia2 Partnership Program. Erasmus Mundus Partnership Program, Action 2, EM A2 is an international university cooperation and promoted by the European Union where scientists and social scientists from partner countries get the opportunity to carry out research in the European Union. Currently he is the Principal of Fifth College, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Now, he is teaching Islamic Civilization and Asian Civilization and Ethnic Relations courses at undergraduate level. Previously he taught Thinking and Reasoning, Malaysian Nationhood, Social Inquiry and The Development of Science in Islamic Civilization courses at undergraduate and diploma level and Research Methodology at posgraduate level. He has been active in research especially in the area of Islamic Studies and Islamic Revivalism. Since 1994, he has been awarded two graduate assistant grants from University Science of Malaysia, two research grant from Penang Islamic Religious Council, Malaysia, one UPM’s short term grant, one UPM’s Research University Grant (RUGs), one UPM’s special sponsored grant on integrity research and one Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) consultation grant. Previously he was a research team of Center for Road Safety, Universiti Putra Malaysia (National Road Safety Campaign, Phase III, National Road Safety Council) led by Professor Ir. Dr. Radin Umar Radin Suhadi and a research team member for IRPA research on the town Malays perception on Vision 2020 headed by Professor Dr. Nurizan Yahya. He joined a research group studying the philosophy of the establishment of Gerakan Desa Wawasan (leader Professor Dr. Jariah Masud) sponsored by Institute of Rural Advancement (INFRA). He intends to submit an application for Fundamental Research Grant (FRGs) sponsored by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. To date, he has published 30 abstracts and conference proceedings, 25 chapters in books and modules, and 13 international and local journal articles. He has also written about 15 international seminar/conference papers and almost 5 100 local/national seminar/conference papers and talks. He has produced 3 forthcoming academic books which are going to be published in the near future (InsyaAllah). Currently, he is supervising 5 Ph.D candidates in various fields including the field of philosophy and civilization studies and has supervised many undergraduates final year project paper. He is also an academic supervisor for hundreds of students of Faculty of Human Ecology, Universiti Putra Malaysia since year 2000. He has been the coordinator for at least 10 private institutions of higher learning in programs collaboration (Asian and Islamic Civilization courses) with Universiti Putra Malaysia. He is also the advisor for Persatuan Belia Islam Nasional (PEMBINA) [National Muslim Youth Association] UPM (since 22nd June 2015), former Advisor of Muslim Students’ Association of Universiti Putra Malaysia (2013-2015) and ex-advisor of Pentas Ilmuan Association of Universiti Putra Malaysia. Amini also involves in many committee activities at University level. He is a member of at least 20 committees involving student affairs and development in Universiti Putra Malaysia since year 2000. He served as the Director of Islamic Center, Universiti Putra Malaysia commencing from 1st January 2004 to 31st December 2009. Before, he was the Acting Director, Islamic Center Universiti Putra Malaysia for 11 month started from 1st February 2003 to 31st December 2003. He is the supplication’s reciter for almost every formal and main functions of the university. He is also the evaluator of social science programs for National Accreditation Board (LAN) and module evaluator for the Islamic Da’wah Foundation of Malaysia (YADIM). He was also the reference expert for Department of Religious Advancement Malaysia (JAKIM) on social decadency. He also was the Vice President of Islam Hadhari Foundation and member of Central Working Committee Member of Islam Hadhari Foundation (Special Project of The Prime Minister of Malaysia). He is also the reference expert for zakat matters in Universiti Putra Malaysia and Committee Member of Nadwah Ulama dan Ilmuan Malaysia (NUIM). With all his contributions, Amini was awarded the Excellent Service Award (academic staff) of Universiti Putra Malaysia for 2003 on 17th December 2004.
