(On December 6, 2018, Dr, Henderson Lewis, OPSB’s Superintendent and the team came
to meet with the Craig's team ta discuss Joseph A, Craia's letter grade of an *F”. Fish and
foremost, the Craig team emphasized that the unacceptable letter grade does wol define the
harchworking staff and students, The discussion focused on (a} the reason(s) forthe
unacceptable letter grade and (b] the indication of implemented practices for the purpose of
increasing student outcomes, Test scares and poverty are intertwined, a tact that should
always be considered in high poverty schaols such as loseph A. Craig. Rothstein (2008) slates,
that it's no cop-out to acknowledge the effects oF socioeconomic disparities on student
learning, Rather, is a vital step to closing the achievement gap.
