THE housebuilder Taylor Wimpey has
bought the land it requires for the Darren
Farm development, just outside
Cowbridge.
Signs were visible this week from the A48,
announcing the acquisition of the land, so The
GEM contacted Taylor Wimpey, asking if this was
just land required for a link road –a condition of
the scheme –or for the complete development.
A Taylor Wimpey spokesperson said: “We are
delighted to have completed the purchase of the
land at Darren Farm and are now preparing a
reserved matters planning application for a high-
quality development of up to 475 new homes.
“Subject to reserved matters consent, we
anticipate work on the houses will begin in January
2018, with the first properties expected to go on
sale in summer 2018. 
“We will also be providing a link road to
connect Cowbridge bypass with Llantwit Major,
and the associated infrastructure works are
expected to commence this summer.
“The link road is required to be complete by the
