Such terminology in particular highlights the potential for the pandemic to be a catalyst for change to the current international order, an order that has been considered by International Political Theorists to be characterized primarily by liberalism (Lang, 2015). This book promises normative interpretation and analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic and to map potential political orders that may emerge in the post-pandemic world. It will in particular focus on the normative questions of: will the pandemic cause a shift towards authoritarian politics? Will COVID-19 act as a catalyst for the return of global Marxism in the form of Chinese Socialism? How can liberalism survive these challenges and best adapt to a post-pandemic world?
