Coupling Losses in Multiple Beam Antennas by Randall Jay Tucker Lieutenant, United States Naval Reserve B.S., University of North Carolina-Asheville Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING from the NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL September 1992 ABSTRACT The relationship between beam coupling losses in multiple beam antennas and pattern parameters such as beamwidth and sidelobe level is investigated. A computer algorithm to calculate the coupling coefficients for arbitrary number of beams is implemented using MATLAB. Gain-loss data for various array amplitude distributions is presented. in <-# 'J- TABLE OF CONTENTS INTRODUCTION I. MOTIVATION A. PROBLEM STATEMENT B. APPROACH C. CHAPTER OVERVIEW D.
