Index 204 MAKING TRACKS ^OWH ** f THE 2000 YEARBOOK DEDICATION IS PROUDLY PRESENTED TO MRS* DOROTHY CHEZIK Dottie Chezik is one of the most respected members of the DelawareValleyCollegefamily. Muchofherworkisdonebehind the scenes and canbe hard to recognize. Dottie has been with the college for over ten years and has developedanadoringloveforthisinstitution,itsstudents,faculty, and staff. When Dottiewas firstemployed shewas theadminis- trative assistant to the Dean of the College, later she became the ChiefBusinessOfficer. HercurrentdutiesareAssistanttotheVice PresidentforBusinessandFinance. Manyhavesaidthatwhileshe hasperformed hervariousrolesin thecollege,shehasdisplayed a great work ethic, distinction, and accuracy that is legendary. WhileDottiehaslittledirectcontactwith thestudents,herfour yearsofinvolvement in A-Day, as well as otheractivities, is well known. Studentsaswellasstaffknowthattheycancountonher. Dottie Chezik has become a mentor and friend to hundreds of students, faculty,staff,administration, and alumni ofthecollege. Dottiecanbestbesummedupbyherbeliefs: "All decisions mustbemeasured byhowtheywillaffect the students," and "students come first." Dottie always speaks ofall the good and positive thingsthatDelawareValleyCollegehastoofferand sheisalwayswillingtohelpthestudents. Forthese reasonswehavechosentodedicatethe2000edition ofCornucopia to her. 'Dedication; MAKING TRACKS THROUGH THE YEARS AT DELAWARE VALLEY COLLEGE. From 1897until1913TheNational FarmSchool, founded by Dr. Joseph Krauskopf,wasafour-yearschool. In 1913itsprogramwaschangedtothree years. In 1946, the school was ap- provedbytheStateCouncilofEduca- tionoftheCommonwealthofPennsyl- vania as a junior college, then called theNational Farm School and Junior Allege.Twoyearslater,in1948,after „..pandingtheacademicprogramand addingbuildings,itwasaccreditedas afour-yearseniorcollegeandnamed theNationalAgriculturalCollege. In 1960, the college was renamed Dela- ware Valley College of Science and Agriculture. In 1989 the trustees ap- proved shortening the name toDela- wareValleyCollege. LIBRARY 1924 Dr.JosephKrauskopf In 1924, the school's Trustees built the Joseph Krauskopf Memorial Library. They felt that no finer tribute could be paid to the memory of Dr. Joseph Krauskopf,themanwhohaddreamedofbeginninga schoolandworkedhardtomakehisdreamareality. Dr.Krauskopf'swillgavehispersonallibrary,con- taininghundredsofvaluablebooks,totheschool.An exactreplicaofthefounder'shomelibrarywasadded to the Krauskopf Memorial Library to house these books. In1969,toaccommodateexpandedcurriculumand theneedformorebooks,twowings,theSamuelCooke andtheHarryShapirowings,wereaddedtothebuild ing.Inthe90's,electronicresourcesbecameanintegra partofthelibrary. FELDMAN 1972 This building was dedicated to Baruch M. Feldman artistandartconnoisseur,whoderivedpleasurefron his agricultural and horticultural pursuits in Buck; County. Dedicated in 1974, itoffers additional class rooms,laboratories,andoffices.Itisoftenreferredtoa; the"AgBuilding." MB WORK HALL 1964 In 1964, construction began on a new dormitory, Work Hall. Work's main en- tranceisshelteredunderastatelyportico and opens into a generous 21 by 32 foot panelledlobby. Closets, desks, and storage forclothes werebuiltintoprovideformaximumfree- domofmovement. Thisdormitory wasbuilttohouse 114 students.Thisbuilding'scostisestimated $500,000. Today,wewouldconsiderthat cheap. OnNovember8, 1964, Work Hall was dedi- cated to Dr. James Work.
