In recent years our athletic teams have won state and regional championships and participated inNJCAANationalTournaments. Thisyearwas noexceptionasCoach GwynYoung and the Lady Wolves Basketball Team were the MACJC State Runners-Up, NJCAA Region 23 Champions, and finishedinseventhplace at the NJCAANationalWomen's BasketballTournament. Since 2000, Co-Lin hasproduced 26NJCAAAll-Americans inbaseball, Softball, basketball, golf, and football. We arejust as proud ofthe academic accomplishments ofourstudents. The Women's TennisTeamwastheNo. 3 NJCAAAcademicTeamoftheYearandthe Men'sTennisTeamwasNo. 4.AlsofinishingintheTop 20were the BaseballTeam (No. 16) and theWomen'sSoccerTeam (No. 17). In 2010, six student-athletes were named NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-Americans and four were named Academic All-Americans. Since 2005, Co-Linhasproduced42 NJCAA Distinguished AcademicAll-Americansand 42 Academic All-Americans. Since coming to Co-Lin, he has seen his team win title after title and has compiled a record of 748 wins and 222 losses to rank him as the NJCAA Second WinningestActive Coach in the nation and the Winningest Women's Coach in the Mississippi Association ofCommunity/Junior Colleges. Coach Young has put the Lady Wolves on the map as one of the nation's most premier women's basketball teams. Under Coach Young's direction, the LadyWolveshave accomplished numerous awards including 21 MACJC Regu- lar Season 1st place finishes, 15 MACJC South Division Championships, 20 MACJC State Tournament Appearances, five MACJC State Championships (1993, 1997, 1999, 2002 and 2003) and been runner-up to the MACJC State Champions seven times (1983, 1984, 1998, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010). The Lady Wolves have won six NJCAA Region XXIII Championships (1989, 1993, 1997, 2002, 2007, and 2010), been runner-up to the NJCAARegionXXIII Championsnine times (1990, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2010), and made six NJCAA National Tournament appearances (1989, 1993, 1997, 2002, 2007, and 2010). Coach Young's team finished the regular season with 31-2 record, 3rd place finish in the final regular sea- sonNJCAA Poll and 7th in the 2010 National Tournamentby winning the NJCAA Consolation Bracket, 6th in the 2007 National Tournament, 4th in the 1989 National Tournament, and has been consistently ranked eachyear by the NJCAA Polls. Coach Young was named Region XXIII Coach ofthe Year in 1989, 1993, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2010 and MACJC and MAC Coachofthe Year in 1993, 2001, 2007, and 2010. The Clarion-Ledger has also recog- nized him as Coach ofthe Year forJunior Colleges on numerous occasions. A graduate of Copiah-Lincoln where he was a standout for the Wolves basketball team, Young was inducted into the college's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997. After graduation from Co-Lin, he attended MVP Mississippi College where he was team and a team captain. Young received his bachelor's degree from Mississippi College and master's degree from the University ofSouthern Mississippi. He is married to the former Velesta Smith. CO-LIN 4 2010-2011 Athletic Media Guide I Glenn Davis Head Football Coach Glenn Davis begins his seventhyearas head coachofthe Wolves. Davis also serves as an instructor in the health and physical education division. He led the Wolves to a 21-0 shutout victory over the Georgia Military Bull- dogs inthe 2006 Sea Island CompanyGolden Isles BowlClassic. The Wolfpack finished the 2006 season with a 9-3 record, ranked No. 6 in the final NJCAA poll, MACJC South Division Champions and State Runner-Up. Davis previously served at Co-Lin as offensive coordinator from 1995-96. During those two years, he helped lead the team to a 15-5 overall record. Davis is a 1982 graduate of Delta State University where he was a three- year letterman as a defensive back and outside linebacker for the Statesmen. His othercoachingstints include offensive coordinator at SouthNatchez High School (1982-85), graduate assistant at Mississippi State (1986-87), defensive backs andwide receivers coach at the UniversityofNorthAlabama (1988-91), and quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers coach at Holmes Community College (1992-94). From 1997-2003 he served as runningbacks coach at Mississippi State University under former head coachJackie Sherrill. Under Davis' tutelage, the Bulldogs lead the Southeastern Conference in rushing in 2000 averaging 193.8yards pergame andranked third in 1998 averaging 172 yardspergame. Hementored DicenzoMiller to Mississippi State's sixth-ever, 1,000-yard season in 2000 (1,005 yards) andJamesJohnson to the fourth and fifth-ever, 1,000-yard campaigns in 1997 (1,069 yards) and 1998 (1,383 yards). He and his wife Minta, are the parents oftwo children, Ann Shelby and Micah. Drew O'Daniel Offensive Line Coach DrewO'Danielbegins his thirdyear as offensive line coachfor the Wolfpack. He spent three seasons atWesternCarolinaUniversityoverseeingtheoffensive line while working with the offensive line and tight ends. At WCU, O'Daniel coached offensive linemen Kevin McAlmont, Wendell Singletary, and Marcus Thomas, all who have signed NFL free agent contracts. In 2005, Linden Ryan and McAlmont received All-Southern Conference honors. The Catamount Offensive Line paved the wayfor 2006 All-SouthernConference runningback WCU Darius Fudge who was the sixth 1,000-yard rusher in history. Fudge eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark versus the eventual National Champion Florida Gators at the Swamp. Prior to WCU, O'Daniel spent the 2004 season in his second stint at the University ofNorth Carolina, working with player development and recruit- ing. He spent the 2003 season at North Carolina Central University, where he coached the offensive line. Between his jobs in the state of North Carolina, O'Daniel served as a graduate assistant coach at the University ofTexas (2001-02), where he earned his Master ofEducation in 2002. O'Daniel worked with the offensive line and tight ends with the Big XII South champion Longhorns. While at Texas, he worked with All-Americans Derrick Dockery (Washington Redskins) and Mike Williams and current NFL tight ends Bo Scaife (Tennessee Titans) and Davis Thomas (New England Patriots). O'Daniel's first stint with the North CarolinaTar Heels came over three seasons (1998-2000), assisting the Tar Heel football program as an offensive graduate assistant (offensive line) and as assistant director ofvideo operations. He got his start in coaching as a student assistant at Florida State University where he was a fullback for the nationally-ranked Seminoles (1995-97). O'Daniel received his B.S. in biochemistry and his M.S. in chemistry at FSU in 1998. A native ofGulf Breeze, Florida., O'Daniel began his collegiate career at Louisiana State University (1993-94). CO-LlN 2010-2011 Athletic Media Guide 5 I Brett Shufelt Defensive Coordinator Brett Shufelt begins his seventh year as defensive coordinator for the Wolf- pack. He also serves as an instructor in the college's social science division. A graduate ofWestern New Mexico University, Shufelt received a B.S. de- gree in movement science. He earned a master's degree in educational admin- istration and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Mississippi State Univer- sity. Shufeltserved as agraduate assistant atNew Mexico State University (1994- 1995) and MississippiState University (1995-1997). He served asdefensiveco- ordinator/linebacker coach at Western New Mexico University (1992-1994). His other coaching stints include Silver City (NM) High School, Amphithe- ater (AZ) High School, and Sabino (AZ) High School. Shufeltismarried to the formerTracyBritt ofWesson (Co-LinClass of1989) and owner ofSalon 51 in Wesson. They have one daughter, Mimi. Calvin Green Special Teams / Secondary Coach CalvinGreenentershis 17thyearontheCo-Linfootballstaff. Greencoaches I the defense, specializing with the secondary players. Several ofthe players he's coached have gone on to become NJCAA All-Americans, as well as NCAA Division I signees. Prior to coming to Co-Lin in January 1994, Green served as assistant de- fensive back coach at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba under the former Mississippi State All-American and National League standout Tom Goode. Green also served as an assistant at Lawrence County High School. Green graduated from Monticello High School where he was a three-year lettermanas adefensiveback. He attended Copiah-LincolnJuniorCollege as a m % member ofCoach Ray Ishee's 1985 State Champion and East Bowl Champion teams. In 1986, Green was chosen MACJC Most Valuable Defensive Back. He also received All-Region XXIII and All-State honors at defensive back and was selected to play in the MACJC All-Star Game. He earned a B.S. degree in recreation from Al- corn State University. During his football career at Alcorn, Green earned letterman honors and in 1988 was a member of the "Nation's Best Second- ary." Green also serves as the recreation hall supervi- sor for the college. He was selected Co-Lin's Ou- standing Staff Member in 2009. He is married to the former Falana Armstrong. They are the par- ents oftwo children, Farrod and Sabria. a PhotobsNatdHeDavis CD-LIN All-StatereturnspecialistFredFullerlooksdownfield. 2010-2011 Athletic Media Guide Clarence McDougal Linebackers Coach Third-year assistant football coach Clarence McDougal coaches the line- backers and defensive backs. He also serves as a residence hall parent and oversees Callendar Gymnasium activities. A graduate ofClinton High School, McDougal was a selected to the Clari- on-Ledger's Dandy Dozen as a defensive back and wide receiver. He was also named First Team All-State, Metro Player ofthe Year and was selected to play in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game. McDougal was also rated the No. 6 safetyin the country and was ahigh schoolAil-American. He was also selected to the high school All-Decade Team. McDougal received his bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies at Mis- sissippi State University. He was a three-year starter for the Bulldogs 2001- 2005. Hemingway Bill Running Backs Coach Bill Hemingway begins his second year as a volunteer football coach. He will % w coach the running backs, kickers, snappers and holders. Hemingway played high school football in Woodward, Okla. He went on to play for the University ofArkansas. He received his bachelor ofbusiness admin- istration from Delta State University. The former Razorback is a member ofthe A-Club. His coachingstints include DeltaStateUniversity, Oklahoma State Universi- ty, the University ofMiami, UniversityofArkansas-Monticello, Oklahoma Pan- handle State University, Paul Quinn College, and Arkansas Baptist College. Hemingway has worked for Nike select football combines as well as National Football League player camps. He has played for and coached with several notable coaches including Frank I I Broyles, Lou Holtz, Jimmy Johnson, Houston Nutt, Pat Jones, Larry Coker, Pete Caroll, Monte Kiffin, Butch Davis and many current college and NFL coaches. He coached the National College South All-Star Bowl Team and coached and played in major bowl games. Hemingway is the father oftwo children, Andrea and Matt, who is in the United States Army. CO-LiN 2010-2011 Athletic Media Guide 7 I Brian Moore Women's Soccer Coach Brian Moore begins his third year as the coach ofthe women's soccer team. He also serves as the assistant men's coach. Moore has been involved in youth and high school soccer in multiple roles for the past several years. He has served as president, coach, and referee for the Brookhaven Youth Soccer Organization (BYSO). He is currently serving as director ofcoaching for BYSO. He has also worked with the MHSAA as a referee for the past six years and achieved "Official ofthe Year" for the region in 2007. Moore currently holds a "D" coaching license and states that he plans to continue to pursue additional certification and development in the future. Moore is married to the former Kristyn Broussard ofBerwick, La. They have two children, Sara and Hayden. They reside in Brookhaven and attend The EpiscopalChurchofthe Redeemerwhere they are bothveryactive. Moore serves as aVestry member, and member ofthe finance and recreation committees. Moore is also active in other projects in the community. He worked on the construction ofKids King- dom Park and is active in the Brookhaven Little Theatre having served as a former board member. Woodham Trey Men's Soccer Coach TreyWoodhambegins his secondyear at the helm ofthe men's soccer team. He also serves as the assistant coach for the women's team. A graduate of Centenary College in Shreveport, La., Woodham received a bachelor of science in health and exercise science and is certified to teach secondary education. While at Centenary, he was a three-year starter for the men's varsity soccer team. After graduation, he spent three years as a physical education instructor at St. Joseph Elementary in Shreveport. During that time, he also coached at the premiere level for the Shreveport Futbol Club, head women's coach for Captain Shreve High School and Loyola College Prep. m % Woodham was named District Coach ofthe Year twice and City Coach ofthe Year once. He has most recently lived in theJackson area coaching for the Chicago Fire Juniors of Missis- sippi - winning the Ull Classic League State Championship this year.
