Coaching Staff GWYN YOUNG Athletic Director Women's Basketball Serving the college as athletic directorsince 1989, Gwyn Young has been head coach ofthe LadyWolves basketballteamfor 18years. Sincecoming toCo-Lin, he has seen his team win title aftertitle and has compiled a record of368wins and 128 losses to rank him in the Top 6 NJCAA winningest active coaches in the Nation. The LadyWolves accomplishments during Coach Young's stay have been numerous: 1 1 regular season 1st place finishes, 6 South Division Championships, 10 State Tourna- ment Appearances, 14 Region XXIII Appearances, State Champions 1993, Runner-up State Champions 1983 and 1985, Region XXIII Champions 1989 and 1993, National Tournament appearances in 1989 and 1993. Coach Young's team finished 4th in the National Tournament in 1989 and has been Nationally Ranked consistently during the years. Youngwasnamed RegionXXI11 CoachoftheYearin 1989and 1993. CoachoftheYear honorswerealso received byCoach Youngfromthe MAC/JC and the MAC in 1993. Young has also been named aClarion- Ledger Coach of the Yearforjunior colleges on numerous occasions. Young also serves as a mathematics instructor. He holds an associate of arts degree from Co-Lin, a bachelor's degree from Mississippi College, and master's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Young is married to the formerVelesta Smith, and they have two children, Lane, age 18, and Jessica, age 15. RANDALL BRADBERRY Head Football Coach In hisfifth yearas head coach oftheWolves, Randall Bradberry has compiled atotal of 21 years of coaching experience. Fortwo years, hewas aWolfpack assistant, serving as offensive coordinator. He also coached at East Mississippi Community College for 12 years.AmemberoftheCo-Lin coaching staffin 1989whentheWolvescapturedthesouth division title, he led the team in 1990 to the same crown. Bradberryholdsabachelorofscienceand masterofeducationdegreefrom DeltaState University, and his educational doctorate from Mississippi State University. Bradberry has three children, son, Bo, age 12, and twin daughters, Libby and Laurie, age 7. DAVID CROSS Assistant Football Coach InhisfirstyearasanassistantfortheWolves, DavidCrosswillcoachtheoffensiveline. For the past three years he has served as head football coach and athletic director at Greensboro High School in Greensboro, Alabama. While there the team posted a 22-8 mark and advanced to the state playoffs in all three years. Cross also spentthree years asdefensivecoordinatoratMarion InstituteandtwoyearsatMississippiStatewithCoach Rocky Felker. He earned a bachelor of science degree in physical education and later received his MasterofEducation degree, allfrom Mississippi State University.Additional studieswere completed at Blinn College and Livingston University. A Starkville native, Cross is married totheformerSherry Tanksley of Louisville. They have two children, Kristen Nichole, 6, and James Kyle, 1 Coaching Staff CALVIN M. GREEN Assistant Football Coach Calvin M. Greenjoined the coaching staff atCo-Lin in January 1994. Greengraduatedfrom Monticello HighSchoolandattendedCopiah-LincolnJuniorCollegeafter high school. He graduated from Alcorn State University. Heserved asassistantdefensivebackcoach at EastMississippiCommunityCollegeatScooba for two years from 1992 and 1993 under the former Mississippi State All American and National FootballLeaguestandoutTomGoode.GreenalsodidhispracticecoachingatLawrenceCountyHigh School. At Monticello High School he was a three-year letterman defensive back. At Co-Lin he was a memberofCoach RayIshee'sstatechampionshipand EastBowlchampionsteamin1985. In1986, hereceivedhonorsasmostvaluabledefensiveback,AllState, All RegionXXIIIandwaschosenfor the All Starteam. At Alcorn State he was a letterman in 1987 and a member of the nation's best secondary in 1988. CHARLES SUTTON Assistant Football Coach Forelevenyears,widereceivercoachCharlesSuttonhasbeenprovidingleadershipasamember oftheWolvescoachingstaff. WhileassociatedwiththeWolfpack, he hasseentheWolvescapture the statetitle in 1985, and has seen the team capturethe south division crown in 1986, 1989, and 1990. Suttonservedasassistanttrackcoachin1987,whentheteamwonthestatetitle.Healsocurrently serves as counselorforthecollege's Upward Bound program, a position he has held for 12years. Before joining the Co-Lin staff, Sutton worked as a classroom teacher and counselor in the Lawrence County School System. He earned his bachelor of science degree from Alcorn State University, and a M. Ed. atJackson State University. Sutton and his wife, Evelyn, have two sons, Victor, 21, and Renard, 16. BROOME PHILLIP Assistant Football Coach Phillip Broome is in hisfifth year as defensive coordinatorfortheWolves. He was a memberof the coaching staff in 1989 and 1990when the Wolves were South State Champs. Broomealso isemployed asascience instructor. Heearned his bachelorofscienceand master of science degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is married tothe former Cynthia Batson, and they havetwo sons, Tyler, 7, and Caleb, 2. DAVID SMITH Women's Softball Coach The 1994seasonwas David Smith'ssecond season as head coachofthe LadyWolves softball team. Underhisdirection in '94the LadyWolves hadthebestdivision record inthestate, compiling 15winsand only 1 loss. They placed4th inthestatetournament playandfinished theseasonwith an overall record of 22 and 5. The94-95teamwill have8 returning startersand 5 playerswhowere Mississippi high school all state players. Thisishis 13thyearatCopiah-Lincolnand heis DirectorofStudentActivities/DirectorofStudent Life. A Loyd Star native, David graduated from Co-Lin in 1980 and from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1982. He laterreceived his masters in Education Administration from Jackson State University. He and his wife, the former Ramona Higdon, have two children, Justin, 9, and Lauren, 7. 4 PAUL JOHNSON Men's Basketball Coach In his seventh yearas head coach oftheWolves basketball team, Paul Johnson has compiled aCo-Linrecordof98wins,65losses.In1989,Johnson'steamwonthestatecommunitycollegetitle, while also claiming the south division regular season championship and placing as Region 23 runners-up. Johnson also isemployed bythecollegeasa physical education andfirstaid instructor. During the 1986-87 school year, he served as an assistant basketball poach. Coach Johnson brings awealth ofexperience with him to Co-Lin. On the staff atthe University ofTexas, hehelpedthe LonghornswintheSouthwestConferencechampionshipandaberth inthe National Invitational Tourney, where they advanced to the quarter finals. East Tennessee State receiveditsfirsteverpostseasonbidwhileCoachJohnsonwasapartoftheprogram. Paulhasalso coachedatPrentissandSouthNatchezschoolswhereheledthelattertothedivisionchampionship. HeearnedanassociateofartsdegreefromJonesCountyJuniorCollege, abachelorofscience degree from Belhaven College, and a master of science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Johnson has done additional work at the University of Texas and the University of Mississippi. He is married to the former Mary Millerof Mt. Olive, and they have two daughters, Maggie, 10, and Anna, 8. KEITH CASE Baseball Coach KeithCaseisenteringhisthirdseasonasheadbaseballcoach.Casewasasuccessfulhighschool coachfor10years beforemovingtoCo-Lin. Hehasthedistinction ofcoaching inthe MPSAAll-Star baseball game (1984) and in the MHSAAAll-Star baseball game (1992). Case also teaches in the mathematics department at Co-Lin. He earned a bachelor of science degreein physicaleducation and aminorin mathematicsfrom MississippiState University in 1983. HereceivedhismasterofeducationdegreefromWilliamCareyCollegein1991 andhehasadditional workfrom Mississippi College and the University of Southern Mississippi. Anativeof Monticello,Casegraduatedfrom Monticello High School in 1979. Heismarriedtothe formerSusan Caffey ofJackson, and they have one daughter, 3-year-old Made. MIKE MclNTYRE Tennis Coach A USPTR-certified teaching professional, Mclntyre has been named "Coach of the Year" four timesand hasseen hisWolveswinfivestateandfourregionaltitles, plus 17otherteam honors. He has had fiveteams ranked in the national "top 20."The 1990team is still the only Mississippi team to everfinish in the "top 10" in the NJCAA nationals. Mclntyre also serves as business division chairman and teaches economics. He earned his associateofarts degree from Copiah-Lincoln, and his bachelorofscience and masterof business administration degreesfromthe UniversityofSouthern Mississippi. He hasdoneadditionalworkat USM, Mississippi College, Memphis State University, University of Utah, University of South Carolina, University ofTexas-Arlington, and Dennis Van der Meer's Tennis University. Mclntyre is married totheformer Diane Payne, and they have one son, Michael, Jr., 14. Coaching Staff BOB RICKETTS Assistant Baseball Coach BobRickettsworkedwiththeoffensivelineforfiveyears,andheservedasoffensive coordinatorfrom 1985through 1988forfootball. RickettssawtheWolveswinthesouth division in 1986, 1989, and 1990, plus seeing theteam capturethe state, region, and East Bowl championships in 1985. In 1975, Rickettswasnamed NCAADivision II Southern BaseballCoachoftheYear asheadcoachatSoutheasternLouisianaUniversity. RickettswasalsoSLU'soffensive coordinator. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from SLU and a master of science degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Ricketts is married totheformerShirleyAllen, and they havethree children, Susan Trahan, Bobby Ricketts, Jr., and Jim Ricketts. Ricketts is a proud grandfather. r. ALTON GREENLEE Golf Coach ACopiah-Lincolnemployeefor31 years,AltonGreenleecurrentlycoachesthecollege'sgolf team and is managerofthe Co-Lin golf course. BeforejoiningtheCo-Linstaff,GreenleewasemployedatWestTallahatchieHighSchooland GulfportEastHighSchool. Heearned hisbachelorofscienceand masterofeducationdegrees from Mississippi College. Greenlee is married toChristine Greenlee, and they have one son, Jeff. JOHNNY WILLIAMS Assistant Women's Softball Coach Afull-timefaculty memberforeightyears, Johnny Williamswill be serving his second year asanassistantcoachforthe LadyWolvessoftballteam. Healsoservesasteamstatisticianfor the softball, men's and women's basketball, and the baseball teams. BeforecomingtoCo-Lin,Williamsservedasan assistantcoach in basketballandfootballat CrescentCityBaptistHighSchoolinMetairie, Louisiana. Healsoservedasanassistantfootball and baseball coach at Bogue Chitto High School in the 1970's. HeismarriedtotheformerCindyHodgesofBogueChitto,andtheyhavetwosons,Ryanand Wade. MICHAEL CHANEY Assistant Basketball Coach MichaelChaneybeginshissecondyearasanassistantbasketballcoach.Chaneyalsoworks part-time in security at Co-Lin. He was a member of the 1985 Regional 23 Basketball Championship team who placed eleventh in the national tournament. Chaney was also a member of the 1988 state and regional championship team when he was team captain and named best defensive player. The 1988 basketball team finished the season seventh in the nationalfinals. Hewasamemberofthe 1986and 1987 back-to-backstatechampionshiptrack teamsatCo-Linwherehesetastaterecord inthe 800 meterwhichstill stands. Chaneyplayed forhisformerCo-LinheadcoachMikeJonesatMississippiCollegeintheGulfCoastConference.
