deciduousandconiferous forests,or inconiferous forests (mainlyAbles)bysifting
variousdebrisandfallenleaves,oftenaroundrottingwoodonforestfloor,bysifting
leaflitterunderbirchesat theedgesofalake,andbysiftingmossand fallenleaves
underrhododendrons;specimensfromhigherelevationsweretakenbysiftingfallen
leavesandvariousdebrisunderrhododendrons.Quediusclngulatusisthedomjnant
SpeciesinforesthabitatsinXueShan,whereitoftenoccurstogetherwjlhQhobo,no_
tumandQ kabateki.
ThesearethefirstrecordsofthisspeciesfromYunnan.Thespeciesjsatpresent
knownfromnorthernYunnanandnorthernSichuan.

Comments. Specimensweretakenbysiftingmoist fallenleavesandotherdebris
alongasmallcreek,bysiftingmoss,debrisunderbamboo,andbysiftingvariousfor-
estfloorlitter.ThespeciesseemstobeendemictoMelliXueShan,amountainrange
justwestoftheMekongrivervalley.
Onlymalesofthisspecieswereknownuntil now.The femalesexual characters
aredescribedbelow.
Female. Firstfoursegmentsof fronttarsussimilar tothoseofmale,butlessdi-
lated,segment2aboutaswideasapexoftibia.Genitalsegmentwithtergite10wide,
pigmentedmedioapically,abruptly narrowed intonarrow,acuteapical portion, with
two long apical setae and with numerous shorter setae on pigmented portion
(Fig.1).

relictconiferousforest”.ThespecieswasuntilnowknownonlyfromthepassZheduo
Shankou (or TshetoLapass-seeSMETANA, 2002,141)near Kangding. Theoccur-
renceofthisflightlessspeciesinQionglaiShanintheBarkamareaisrathersurprising.
However,thespecimensagreeinallcharacters(particularlythemalesecondarysexual
charactersandtheshapeoftheaedoeagus)entirelywiththosefromthetypelocality.
