Thisisthefirst recordofthisspecies frommainlandChina. 0nly onespecimen(holotype)ofthisspecies,takenintheDaljeelingareaintheHimalaya, waspreviouslyknown(SMETANA,1988,202). QuedlusantennalisisthethirdChinesespeciesofthebeeson1group(SMETANA, 2001b,207).It isverydistinctiveanditcannotbeconfusedwithanyotherspeciesof thegroup,occurringinmainlandChina.Inadditiontothequitedistinctiveaedoeagus (Seefigs.17-20inSMETANA,1988,394-395),itdiffersfromQaccoSMETANA,1996a bythelargerandrobusterbody formwithmorevoluminous,widerpronotum,andby themarkedlycoarserandmoreasperatepunctationoftheelytrawiththeinterspaces lackingappreciablemicrosculpture. It differs fromQ beeson1, whichoccurs in the samearea, by themarkedly largerand robusterbody formwithmore voluminous, widerpronotumwithlateralportionsmoreexplanate, thelongerantennaewhichbe_ Comeslightlypalertowardapex(theyareentirelyblackinQbeeson1),bytheposterior Punctureofthesublateral rowsonthepronotumsituatedbeforethelevelofthelarge lateralpuncture(inQbeesonithispunctureissituatedbehindtheleve1ofthelargelat_ era1puncture)andbytheevenlypunctatefirstvisibleabdominaltergite(inQ beeson1 ContributionstotheQuediinaofChina22 139 thetergitebearsasmallimpunctateareainthemiddle). InthetwoChi- nesespecimensofQantennalisthelargelateralpunctureonthepronotumissituated away fromthelateralmargin(asusual),makingthepositionofthispunctureuseless fordistinguishingthese twospecies. ThespecimencollectedbyPuTzwasactuallytakenat thetypelo- cality(seeSMETANA,2001a,190);theremainingspecimens[C89,C93]comefromthe sameareaandthesame forest,thecollectingsiteliesjusthigherup,abovethepass. Theywerecollectedinamixeddeciduousforestbysl価ngvariousforest floordebris alongasmallcreek. Basedontheshapeofthetergite10ofthefemalegenitalsegment,aswellason thefact thatbothcollectingsites [C89andC93] lieclosetothetypelocalityofthe species,thereislittledoubtthatthespecimensbelongtoQguey. Sincethetergite10ofthefemaleallotypeofthisspecieswasbadlydamagedwith onlythecharacteristicapicalportionpresent, theentiretergite10is加ustratedhere (Fig. 1). Quedius(Microsaurus)raa,tspnov. ContributionstotheQuediinaofChina,22 143 l44 AlesSMETANA montaboutaslongastwoprecedingsegmentscombined.Pronotumaboutaslongas wide,widestataboutposteriorthir markedlynarrowedanteria withlateralmargins continuouslyarcuatewithbroadlyroundedbase, transverselyconvex,lateralportions notexplanate;dorsalrowseachwiththreepunctures;sublatera1rowseachwiththree or four punctures,posteriorpuncturesituatedbehindlevelof largelateral puncture; oneadditionalpuncturebetweendorsalandsublatera1rows;surfaceofpronotumwith microsculpturesimilar tothatonhea butmarkedly fineranddenser.Scutellumim- punctate,withveryfineanddensemicrosculptureoftransversestriae.Elytrarelatively long,atbasenarrowerthanpronotumatwidestpoint,slightlywidenedposteria atsu- tureaboutaslongas,atsidessomewhatlongerthanpronotumatmidline(ratio1.15); punctationmoderately fine, dense, transverseinterspacesbetweenpuncturesmostly aboutaswideasdiametersofpunctures;pubescencebrownish;surfacebetweenpunc- tures withoutmicrosculpture.Wings fully developed.Abdomenwith tergite7(fifth visible)withfinewhitishapicalseamofpalisadefringe;punctationandbrownishpu- bescenceofabdominaltergitesfineandmoderatelydense,almostevenlycoveringeach tergite,ingeneralbecomingindistinctlysparsertowardapexofabdomen;surfacebe- tweenpunctureswithexceedinglydenseandfinemicrosculptureoftransversestriae. Male. First foursegmentsof front tarsusmarkedlydilate sub-bi1obe each denselycoveredwithmodifiedpalesetaeventrally;segment2aboutaswideasapexof tibia;segment4narrowerthanprecedingsegments.Sternite8withfivelongsetaeon eachside,withmoderatelywideanddeep,arcuatemedioapica1emargination,small triangular areabeforeemargination attenedandsmooth (Fig 2). Genital segment withtergite10triangular,evenlynarrowedtowardnarrowlyarcuateapex,withnumer- ous longsetaeatandnearapical margin, andwithseveralshortersetaein front of them(Fig3);sternite9withrathershortbasalportion,apicalportionwidenedbasally andthennarrowedintosubtruncate,mediallyemarginateapex,withtwoindistinctly differentiatedsubapicalsetaeoneachsidebeforeemargination(Fig 4). Aedoeagus (Figs 5-7)narrowandelongate;median lobesubpara11e1-side anteriorly narrowed intonarrowlyarcuateapex,withmarkedlydeve1ope longmedialcarinaonfaceadja_ centtoparamere.Paramereelongate,narrow,withnarrowlyarcuateapexdistinctlynot reachin9apexofmedianlobe; fourfinesetaeatapex,twoslightlyfinersetaeateach lateral marginbelow apex; undersideofparamerewith threesensory pegsetae far belowapex.Internalsacwithoutlargersclerotizedstructures. Female. Firstfoursegmentsoffronttarsussimilartothoseofmale,butlessdi_ lated;segment2slightlynarrowerthanapexoftibia(ratio0.87).Genitalsegmentwjth tergite10narrowlytriangular,withslightlydifferentiated,subacuteapicalportjon,wjth SeVe「allen9setaeatandnearapicalmargin,andwithseveralmarkedlyshortersetaein frontofthem(Fig8).
