Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) all over the country into Centres of Excellence (CoE). Instructor training is an integral part of this proposal and accordingly, draft curriculum for CoE Instructors’ Training in Advanced Modules under various sectors is being developed. In this connection, discussions and meetings were held with experts from Industries, other technical experts from DGE&T and DET Institutions. As a result of the same, five workshops were held in Apex Hi-Tech Institute, Bangalore, for the preparation of draft curriculum and indicative schedule for 31 Advanced Modules on 6 sectors, keeping in view the contents of CoE Advanced Modules curriculum of 6 months duration for students as the base material which is available on the website (http://dget.nic.in). Eventually “Draft Curriculum and Indicative Schedule” of six weeks of CoE Instructors program of Advanced Modules are prepared and reviewed by experts from Industries, Institutes from Govt. of India, State Govt., Industry Associations etc; and the same is presented here as working material to prepare work plan from the point of view of training on finalized “Curriculum and Schedule” for Advanced Modules of various sector. Curriculum for Construction& Wood working Sector under VTIP http://apexhitech.gov.in P age No. 6 of 44 Upgradation of ITIs into Centers of Excellence Broad guidelines for implementation of the scheme Construction & Wood Working These Centers will be providing multiskill training to meet the skill requirement of particular sector of industry with their active involvement in all aspects of training. The training will be provided in three parts as given below: (cid:1) Training in Basic skill areas for a period of one year. (cid:1) Training in Advanced modules of six months duration after Broad based basic Training(BBBT) (cid:1) The testing & certification for the Basic skill training & advanced training during next six months will be conducted by NCVT (cid:1) Training in specialized modules mainly in the industry(The course curricula, duration etc will be designed in consultations with the IMC/local industry). The trade testing & certification for specialized module will be done jointly by the State Government & Industry. Said certificate will have recognization from NCVT As per the recommendations of the EFC, Training in the shop floor should constitute alteast 25-40% of the curriculum. The training programme will have multi-entry and multi-exit provisions as given below: (cid:1) @trainee can opt to go to the labour market after completing broad based basic training of one year duration or after completing advanced module. (cid:1) @trainee can come back after some time to seek admission for advanced/ additional advanced /specialised module Training in Advanced modules After the BBBT of one year duration, for subsequent training in Advanced Module, a CoE may select minimum three modules, so as to ensure that all the 96 trainees could be accommodated in the three modules in two shifts each. @If it is felt that available modules are not sufficient to cater to the needs of local industry in a particular state, States may develop suitable module(s) Curriculum for Construction& Wood working Sector under VTIP http://apexhitech.gov.in P age No. 7 of 44 accordingly in consultations with the industry & forward the same to DGE&T for seeking approval of NCVT. (cid:1) A trainee at a time can opt only for one module of 24 weeks duration. (cid:1) Admission Criteria, Space requirement, Qualification of instructor of the various modules of “Construction & Wood Working” sector are attached herewith. Facilities for passed out trainees from Conventional Pattern for admission in Advanced module. Subject to availability of seats, NTC /NAC passed outs from conventional system of the trades mentioned against each advanced module in the enclosed statement, could be offered admission accordingly. IMCs The IMC comprises of upto 11 members where one member will be nominated by Central Government and not more than five members by States/UTs and not more than five members including the Chairman by the Industry Associations namely CII/FICCI/ASSOCHAM. Roles & Responsibilities of IMCs The IMC will have the following roles and responsibilities: (a) Generation of revenue through various means such as projects and financial contribution from industry including donation of equipment and using of such funds/ equipment as decided by them; (b) Forecasting of new emerging training areas; (c) Development of curriculum; (d) Selection of trainees; (e) Training of faculty; (f) Appointment of Contract faculty/Guest faculty; (g) Facilitating on the job training to the trainees; (h) Testing and certification; and, (i) Facilitating placement of passing out trainees. Duration: 10 weeks training covering: i) 2 weeks of Modern methods of teaching ii) 6 weeks of training on Advanced Module of COE syllabus (w.r.to 6 months syllabus for students available on the website viz http://dget.nic.in) iii) 2 weeks of Training in industry (Industry- Attachment) Target group : CoE instructors of Advanced Modules under various CoE sectors. Objective: To train the CoE Instructors in Advanced Modules to enable them to train CoE ITI trainees in their respective Advanced Modules of various CoE sectors. Terminal Competency: On completion of the Instructor Training course in CoE Advanced Module, the Instructor should be able to impart training effectively and analyze concerned sector of CoE syllabus/tools and equipment as approved by NCVT (available on web site: http://dget.nic.in ) , also to prepare training material, impart the knowledge and skill of Advanced Modules of various sectors so as to enable them to impart training to CoE ITI graduates in the respective Advanced Module in each sector .
