But, there are three notable gifts mentioned by Paul in his letters to the Corinthians, in which He used this particular exclamation, "Thanks be to God. In the first, he gave thanks to God for the gift ofvictory over death. "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Cor. 15:57). Christ conquered death forever when He died for our sins and rose again. In the second, he gave thanks to God for the gift ofvictory in life. "Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour ofHis knowledge by us in every place" (2 Cor. 2:14). By the indwelling presence ofthe Spirit ofChrist, we are enabled to triumph over circumstances and "show forth the praises ofHim who hath called us out ofdarkness into His marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9). But the greatest gift ofall is Christ Himself! "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift" (2 Cor. 9:15). The value ofthis gift is beyond language to describe; it is "unspeakable and full ofglory" (1 Peter 1:8). Thanks be unto God! Again, may this yearbook serve as a valuable tool ofinformation and a ready reference to the work ofour Conference, reminding us to pray for one another. Let us support and encourage one another, as we share together our heartfelt "thanks to God." Donald A. Ehler CONFERENCE OFFICERS President 1993-96 Term Rev. Donald A.
