$9.95 CONFESSIONS | OF A MEDICAL HERETIC Robert S. Mendelsohn, M.D. Doctor Robert Mendelsohn has been practicing medicine for over twenty-five years. He has been the National Director of Project Head Start’s Medical Consultation Ser- vice, Chairman of the Medical Li- censing Committee for the State of Illinois, and the recipient of numer- ous awards for excellence in medi- cine and medical instruction. He currently is Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine and Commu- nity Health in the School of Medi- cine of the University of Illinois. He is also a medical heretic, for Dr. Mendelsohn believes that the greatest danger to your health is usually your own doctor. Modern medicine's methods, argues the doctor, are rarely effective and in many instances are more danger- ous than the diseases they are de- signed to diagnose and treat. In Confessions of a Medical Her- etic, Dr. Mendelsohn tells why, if you're feeling fine, you should not have a physical examination, annu- ally or otherwise. The effects of the exam may well be detrimental to your health, and: the diagnosis, even if confirmed by lab tests, could very well be erroneous; in a recent nationwide examination of “high standard’ laboratories, fifty percent failed.
