However, as the volume of primary total hip arthroplasties increases, the absolute number of complications will concurrently increase as well. As such, a fundamental understanding of how to identify and accurately diag- nose such complications is essential. Equally important is the expeditious management to address these complications. In this, the first edition of a novel book focusing on complications that occur during and after primary total hip arthroplasty, a case-based approach to each complication is pre- sented by an impressive group of international experts. Each chapter includes a clinically relevant discussion of the epidemiology, risk factors, preventative measures, diagnosis, treatment, and a brief literature review related to some of the most common complications. At the completion of each chapter, the authors present their solution to the complication. We hope this book helps you in your daily practice. Rochester, MN, USA Matthew P.
