Words that appear in numerous sections with generally the same definition, such as "person", and words that are defined solely for the purpose of abbreviating a term, such as defining "Department" to mean the department of Human Services, have not been indexed under "Words and Phrases". GRANTS OF RULE MAKING AUTHORITY This section entitled "GRANTS OF RULE-MAKING AUTHORITY" contains index entries for statutory sections that contain grants for rule-making authority. Ifauthorization is granted in more than one statutory section^ the index entries will indicate the different sections in which the authority is granted. Each executive department is listed and contains a listing for all the rule-making authorizations for that department. For example, the "Education, department of" will contain a listing for "Education, commissioner of" that lists the grants for rule-making authority for this position. COMPARATIVE TABLES This volume contains several tables located at the back of the volume. The first table is provided to assist users in locating sections renumbered when the statutes were reenacted forC.R.S. 73. The remaining tables are provided to assistusers in locating provisions when whole bodies of law have been repealed and reenacted resulting in renumbering or in relocation of provisions. An explanatory note at the beginning of each table specifies the statutes treated in the table and provides instructions for use of the table. IV EXPLANATORY NOTES Boldface headings. The general index consists of an alphabetical listing of boldface headings, assembled from words and phrases used in statutory sections, constitutional provisions, and court rules. In addition, an effort has been made to use other phrases and terms, including acts by popular name and frequently used nonlegal terms. Boldface headings generally contain references to specific sections, constitutional provisions, and court rules and treat the subject matter exhaustively unless references are made to other boldface headings. For example, under the boldface heading "ARSON", the user should find all statutory sections, constitutional provisions, and court rules dealing with the topic of arson except those statutory sections relating to arson information reporting that have been indexed under "INSURANCE". The user is directed to the boldface heading "IN- SURANCE" through use of a cross reference. Crossreferences. Acrossreference directs the userofthe general index to anotherboldface headingwherethattopicisgenerallyconsideredorspecificallyindexed. Forexample, under the boldface heading, "ABDUCTION", there is a cross reference to the boldface heading "KIDNAPPING" where the topic of abduction is considered generally. As a further example, under the boldface heading "BAD CHECKS", there is a cross reference that directs the user to the boldface heading "CHECKS" where the topic of bad checks is indexed in detail. Sometimes the cross reference will include a general reference to the statutory sections where the topic is found in the Colorado Revised Statutes along with a cross reference to the boldface heading where the user will find a detailed index of those statutory sections. For example, under the boldface heading "NO FAULT INSURANCE", the user is provided with a reference to the general statutory sections concerning no fault insurance (sections 10-4-701 to 10-4-726) but is also directed to the boldface heading "MOTOR VEHICLES" where those statutory sections are indexed in detail. Internal cross references. An internal cross reference generally directs the user from one subheading to another subheading within the same boldface heading. For example, under the boldface heading "LABOR" and under the subheading "Eight-hour day", the user is directed to the subheading "Hours of labor" to find index entries that deal with that topic eithergenerallyorspecifically.Aninternalcrossreferencemay alsodirecttheuserfromone topic to another topic within the same subheading. For example, under the same boldface heading "LABOR" and under the same subheading "Hours oflabor", the user is directed for the topic "Hazardous occupations" to the topic "dangerous employment" under that same subheading "hours of labor". Rules of the Supreme Court.
