P The lesson plans for the Prealgebra course are organized in such a way that the book can be completed
in the course of a 33-week school year. Weekly speed drills are assigned in order for students to have
mastery over their math facts, enabling them to be able to concentrate on the higher math skills needed
for Algebra. The goal should be to complete 100 problems in each of the four operations in two minutes.
Such speed drills can be found online.
Only odd number problems are assigned. The answers to the odd problems are at the end of each
section and are shown worked out in the solutions manual. Students are encouraged to check the odd
problems with the answers to verify that they are working the problems correctly. If a student needs further
practice, the even number problems afford plenty of extra repetition.
Quizzes are given every two or three sections and a test at the end of each chapter. There are eight
chapters in the book. The number of sections in each chapter varies. There is a cumulative midterm and
final provided.
