The first three listings display summary data for each Texas public school campus and district, organized by county. Table 1 includes, for each district and campus: (a) the average SAT I Mathematics, Verbal, and Combined scores of SAT I examinees in the class of 2003; (b) the number of graduates who took the SAT I; (c) the total number of graduates and the percentage of graduates who tested; and (d) the number and percentage of examinees with SAT I Combined scores of 1110 or higher. Table 2 contains the same information for ACT English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and Composite results. Table 3 contains information for the Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) indicators based on results for either the SAT I or ACT. Included in Table 3 are: (a) the number of SAT I- and/or ACT-tested graduates; (b) the total number of graduates; (c) the percentage of graduates who took the SAT I and/or ACT; and (d) the number and percentage of examinees scoring at or above the criterion on either test. In Tables 1-3, SAT I and ACT participation and performance data for districts and campuses with fewer than 5 graduates are removed to protect student confidentiality. This precaution ensures that single sets of scores cannot be identified or linked with any individual. In these cases “<5t” appears in place of the actual value, with “t” referring to a small number of students tested. In addition, districts and campuses with five or more examinees but fewer than five scores of 1110 or above for SAT I or 24 or above for ACT receive the note, “<5h.” When it is possible for these score data to be arithmetically inferred from other district- or campus-level data, additional masking is employed using intervals of 5 students, and a note such as the following appears: “<10m,” “<15m,” “<20m,” etc. College Admissions Examinations by District Characteristic In the final table, SAT I and ACT results have been summarized by a variety of district characteristics. For each of 25 district characteristics, Table 4 shows: (a) the mean SAT I Combined score; (b) the mean ACT Composite score; (c) the percentage of graduates tested on the SAT I and/or the ACT; and (d) the percentage of examinees scoring at or above criterion in 2003. In addition, these four values are presented for the state as a whole and provided at the bottom of each page. Information on the 25 district characteristics is based on data from TEA’s Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS). Characteristics include student enrollment, district type, the percentage of students passing TAAS, and the percentage of teachers with an advanced degree. Although the number of subcategories within each characteristic is consistent from year to year, the 2 College Admissions Testing of Graduating Seniors in Texas High Schools, Class of 2003 range represented by a subcategory may change. All data on Table 4 are for the 2003 graduating class, with the exception of college admissions data, which lag one year behind.
