"Analysis, Geometry and Mathe matical Physics", the subjects covered by this collection, are closely related to differential geometry, partial differential equations and mathematical physics — the major areas in which Professor Gu has scored notable achievements. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to those who kindly contribute their papers to this collection. Many of these dis tinguished mathematicians are close friends, colleagues and collab orators of Professor Gu. This fact itself is an indication of Professor Gu's widespread influence and high prestige in the mathematical community. We also thank Ms. Xue Mi of Fudan University for her enthusiastic and effective work in editing the collection. We dedicate this collection to Professor Gu Chaohao, and wish him good health, a long life and ever greater success in his work. He will always be remembered with infinite gratitude and affection for his contribution to the development of mathematical science.
