For my partner: Endrik HErdiyan Who always be there to keep me going in tough times iv ABSTRACT Code Mixing Used by The Presenter and The Guests of Just Alvin Program on Metro TV Selly Selvia Code mixing is the condition where people use more than one language in the same topic. The use of code mixing in talkshow program presents a conversation in Indonesian language, but sometimes the presenter and the guests combine different languages to make a sentence. This condition will make misunderstanding to the audiences and viewers who do not understand English. The research problems of this research are: 1) What code mixing utterances are used by the presenter and the guests of “Just Alvin” program on Metro TV?, 2) What types of code mixing are used by the presenter and the guests of “Just Alvin” program on Metro TV?, and 3) What are the meanings of code mixing by the presenter and the guests of “Just Alvin” program on Metro TV? This research used descriptive qualitative to describe about phenomena of code mixing in “Just Alvin“ program. The research object of this research is the document that refers to the material of “Just Alvin” program that can be used as the primary source of data in the certain research. In addition, a document is used as the instrument of this research. Based on the result findings, it found that there were 539 code mixings used by the presenter and the guests in Just Alvin program on Metro TV channel. They used two languages, Indonesian and English at the same time in their utterances. Also, the researcher found type of code mixing used in the conversation based on Musyken theory, they are: insertion, alternation and congruent lexicalization code mixing on Just alvin program.
