Nurkin, Ph.D., FACHE President and Chief Executive Officer Philosophy The Charlotte-MecklenburgHospital Authority School ofNursing was established in 1990 to meet the community's growing need forregistered nurses. This two-year associate degree nursing program combines the academicresources ofthe University ofNorth Carolinaat Charlotte with the rich clinical environments at Carolinas Medical Center and other CMHA facilities. The School ofNursing supports CMHA's commitment to the improvementofhealth through education, research, and the delivery ofhigh quality health care services. This academic health sciences environment combines caring, compassion, and skill with advances in health care technology in meeting the nursing needs ofthe region. The goals ofthe program are responsive to changing health needs of society and the curriculum provides students with the competencies necessary to deliverquality nursing care.
