Second, I wish to thank my family, my parents, Dorothy and Edmund, my adult children, Arayna and Matthew, my daughter-in-law Isabella and my new granddaughter Emilia for their continuing love, support, and understanding during the work on this edition. Nurses have an opportunity to meet the crucial mental health needs of one of our most vulnerable populations and this text is intended as a tool to assist in that mission. Edilma Yearwood I wish to dedicate this second edition of the textbook first to my family. My husband, Lloyd Pearson, my children, Neal, David, and Elizabeth, and my two grandchildren, Liam and Adalyn, have all contributed in different ways to my thinking about development and mental health. Second, I want to dedicate this book to the myriad of children, adolescents, and families I have had the privilege to know in the last 40 years of work as a child psychiatric nurse.
