Publication 408/2000-9 (Change No. 9, Effective 7/2/02) www.dot.state.pa.us PREFACE 408/2000 Change No. 9 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION Publication 408/2000 SPECIFICATIONS PREFACE Contents: Beginning with the release of Pub 408/2000-2 the contents of the CD-ROM version also contains all Pub 408 previous Editions beginning with to Pub 408/94 (English), their Supplements/Changes, current Items Catalogues (Pubs 7/7M), and Standard Special Provisions. This is the same information posted on the PennDOT Website. Use of Dimension Values: Pub 408/2000 is a single set of Construction Specifications that contains all measurements in dual values, Metric followed by English in parentheses. This feature was used to facilitate the construction of individual projects using Metric or English dimensions, not a mixture. Prior to the initiation of a project’s design the Department will specify the dimension value to be used throughout. Subsequently dual values will not be indicated on design drawings, renderings, or in details and instructions. Similarly there will not be a mixing of values, either in formulating calculations or in presentation. In addition, each project bid proposal will contain a Special Provision that will specify the dimension value to be used. Effective Dates: • Pub 408/2000, Initial Edition, was effective on projects let after April 3, 2000. • Pub 408/2000-1, Change No.1 to the Initial Edition, was effective on projects let after July 3, 2000. • Pub 408/2000-2, Change No. 2 to the Initial Edition, was effective on projects let after October 2, 2000. • Pub 408/2000-3, Change No. 3 to the Initial Edition, is effective on projects let after January 2, 2001 • Pub 408/2000-4, Change No. 4 to the Initial Edition, is effective on projects let after April 2, 2001 • Pub 408/2000-5, Change No. 5 to the Initial Edition, is effective on projects let after July 2, 2001 • Pub 408/2000-6, Change No. 6 to the Initial Edition, is effective on projects let after October 2, 2001 • Pub 408/2000-7, Change No. 7 to the Initial Edition, is effective on projects let after January 2, 2002 • Pub 408/2000-8, Change No. 8 to the Initial Edition, is effective on projects let after April 2, 2002 • Pub 408/2000-9, Change No. 9 to the Initial Edition, is effective on projects let after July 2, 2002 i TABLE OF CONTENTS 408/2000 Change No. 8 SECTION 100 -
