Call 508-462-268 1 AN INVITATION Over the next few weeks, cities and towns from east to west along the Massachusetts Turnpike have planned activities marking the 500th anniversary of the historic voyages of; Christopher Columbus. The Massachusetts Christopher Columbus Quincentennial Commission is pleased to join with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority in presenting this guide to assist you in selecting and participating in these commemorative activities. The Commission, its nonprofit affiliate, Celebrate Discovery, Inc., and many others have worked since 1984 toward one — goal to produce a multi-year Quincentennial commemoration that includes broad ethnic and cultural representation, and provides opportunities for sensitive and contemporary reflection on Columbus' voyages. The events over the coming weeks are the culmination of the statewide commemoration and exemplify our goal of celebrating the spirit ofdiscovery, innovation and diversity. Please join us in celebrating the spirit of discovery, and in beginning a new century of understanding based on lessons learned from Columbus' expeditions. Sincerely, Senator Louis P. Bertonazzi, Chairman Massachusetts Christopher Columbus Quincentennial Commission For more information, call: 1-800-772-1992 CELEBRATE DISCOVERY Thisbrochurehasbeenmadepossiblethroughcontributions fromMassPike,MarriottCorporationandMobilOilCorporation.
