Abstract: In preparationof the Vitaceae treatment for Flora ofChina, we discovered that Cayratia mollissimavar. lanceolata
C . L . Li from China’s Hainan is highly distinct from C. mollissima (Wall .) Gagnep . from the Malay Peninsula and In-
dochina in fruit and leaf morphology . The taxon from Hainan deserves recognition at the species level and thus a new combi-
nation, Cayratia lanceolata (C . L . Li) J . Wen & Z .-D .Chen, is herein made .
