Sarah Humphreys, aged 26, who does not drive, now walks around 25 miles a day walking up to 15 dogs. She trimmed down from 21st 11lb to 11st 11lb to win the Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Magazine slimmer of the year 2011 award in the entrepreneur slimmer cate- gory. Sarah, who used to live in Solihull, suffers from dyslexia and dyspraxia, which affects her co-ordination. She decided to try to start up a business after losing her job as a check out assistant with Morrisons. Her fiance Jamie Smith, who proposed to her on Christmas Day, spurred her on to lose weight to achieve her new career goal. She said: “I feel amazing to have lost 10st. Now I want to help other people to turn their lives around. Especially people who have learning disabilities. If I can do it, they can do it. “I just wanted to succeed in life. I hadn’t succeeded in anything before and I am so proud of myself for turning my life around.” Bullied Jamie said: “I think she’s amazing, she has done so well.” Sarah, who is 5ft 11in, said she loved exercise and walking and being outdoors. “I was walking 10 to 15 miles a day when I was unemployed. Jamie suggested walking dogs because his brother has a dog and that is what I have done,” she said. Sarah, who received Marks & Spencer outfits as part of her prize, said; “You just have to stick with slimming. “You have good and bad days but have to be positive. It is really worth it in the end.” At the age of 15, she wore size 18 clothes and got bullied even more often getting called Taf, which she said her tormenters told her was how she spelt fat. Turning to food for comfort, Sarah began to binge eat. Her breakfast was five dough- nuts from the supermarket bakery where she worked. Amateur photographer Steve Batho, of Baswich, Stafford, came across the deer at Brocton, on Cannock Chase. He captured on film what appeared to be a family with parents and two young wandering in the woodland. But such a sight could become much rarer if parts of Cannock Chase are included in plans to privatise Forestry Commission land. Campaigners fear a private landowner may chop down trees and remove vital habitat for wildlife such as deer. The What Future for Cannock Chase Forest group has attracted more than 1,400 signatures. Organiser Mark Davis, of Hednes- ford, said on Facebook: “Let’s hope everyone who appreciates its beauty will sign our petition whether online or on paper.” Information about the deer in the parkland is available from Birches Valley Forestry Centre, near Rugeley.
