This manual prescribes procedures on processing pay and allowances for members of the Air Reserve component of the United States Air Force. This Air Force Manual (AFMAN) applies to all Air Reserve Component organizations, including Air Force Reserve (AFR), Air National Guard (ANG), and Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC). This manual applies to all Reserve Component (RC) Payroll Offices and any other accounting and finance offices which support ANG and AFR for military pay payments and funds accountability. This AFMAN may not be supplemented. Refer recommended changes and questions about this publication to the Office of Primary Responsibility using the Air Force Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication; route Air Force Forms 847 from the field through major command (MAJCOM) functional managers. Route the AF IMT 847 from the local Reserve Component Payroll Office or host Financial Management Flight (FMF) through major command (MAJCOM functions managers to Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management, Air Force Finance and Accounting Office-Finance (SAF/FMFC). The authorities to waive wing/unit level requirements in this publication are identified with a Tier (T- 0, T-1, T-2, T-3) number following the compliance statement. See AFI 33-360, Publications and Forms Management, for a description of the authorities associated with the tier numbers. Submit requests for waivers through the chain of command to the appropriate tier waiver approval authority, or alternately, to the Publication OPR for non-tiered compliance items.
