Many Bullock cousins are concerned that publishing the type personal information contained in this
booklet might, in the hands of the unscrupulous, cause harm to an individual. Furthermore, information such as
name, age, place of birth, parent(cid:1)s names, and work history, might find its way into databases that would be used
for making legal sales and promotional contacts. Based on these expressed concerns, the decision was made a year
ago to limit information presented on The Bullock and Rector Family Homepage on the internet to individuals born
before 1900. As you read this booklet and enjoy learning about your present Bullock relatives, remember that the
information contained herein is meant for use within the family only. Believe it or not, there are many list makers
out there who would dearly love to have this information for their use. The booklet has been put together by and for
the descendants of Herman and Drusilla Bullock only and will not be shared with libraries, genealogical societies,
or historians.
Note: To meet the above concerns this privatized version contains no detailed information on living persons.
This booklet is comprised of two parts. First, in Chapters 1 through 8 presents
information on all of the descendants of Herman Bullock and Drusilla Asenith Finton gathered to
this date. Family group sheets, including photos if available, are shown for families of
descendants down through the grandchildren of Herman and Drusilla. Information on further
descendants is presented in the genealogy charts for each of the six children of Herman and
Drusilla. These descendants include several great-great-great-grandchildren of Herman and
Drusilla. Every attempt has been made to acquire information on all descendants. The second
part, Chapter 9, contains information on the ancestors of Herman and Drusilla. Herman’s
ancestors are traced back to Richard Bullock who was born in England and arrived in Rehoboth,
MA in 1643. Drusilla’s Finton and Gleason ancestors are traced back several generations.
The index at the end of this booklet is an index of individuals only, not places. Names in
the text portions of the booklet, such as this forward, are not included in the index. Individual’s
names in the family group sheets, genealogy reports and descendant(cid:1)s charts are indexed.
However, names in the notes portion of the charts are not indexed.
About three years ago, my brothers Phil, Bob and Cal (until he died in 1998) and I started
to gather together as many Bullock and Rector photos that we could lay our hands on. The
family pictures were gathered from many sources, scanned (digitized), and the original sent back
to the owner. Many of these pictures
have been put on the Bullock and
Rector Family Home Page on the
internet for our many cousins to
enjoy. I now have thousands of
family photos taken between the
years 1860 and 2012. An example of
one of these important family photos,
shown to the left, is of the two oldest
living descendants of Herman and
Drusilla Bullock. In the summer of
1999 Herbert William "Pete"
Bullock (90) and Philip Gerald
Bullock (83), got together in Phil’s
home. They hadn’t seen each other
in more than 60 years.

Many Bullock cousins have supplied information and photos related to the present
generations of Bullocks and in many cases supplied critical information on our Bullock
ancestors. At the risk of leaving out a name, those who contributed include Mary Jane Vaughn

Pete, Phil, and I got
together at a
restaurant near Pete(cid:1)s
home in April 2004.
The photo of Pete and
Phil shown to the
right was taken in the
restaurant(cid:1)s parking
lot. Pete was 95 and
Phil 88 at the time.
Phil passed away in
2006 and Pete in
2008.
A special note of thanks is due to my brother, Philip Gerald Bullock, for supplying a
large amount of information to this project. Phil had an amazing memory and a special way of
gathering information from and about our many Bullock cousins. This project could not have
been done without his assistance.
