Thatwas the sentiment ofmoststudents as theyear opened. For many the year was filled with excitement and adjustments. Freshmen were thrown into the college atmosphere at orientation while returningstudentswelcomedoldfriends and metsome newcompanions. "I was excited about coming back to see all my friends after summer vacation," saidsophomoreKristen Speak. "We spent alotoftime talking aandgettingcaughtup." Thenewyearbroughtexcitingnewfrontiers to explore, along with the familiar favorites ofAlumni Weekend, the Fall Formal, Christmas Dinners and more. After the Fall Ball, sophomore AmandaRubelfoundherselfsaying "Whatanight!" StudentLife Divider5 Getting Started As thesummercame toan endand the dawningofanewschoolyeardrew near, the new students of Milligan College arrived on campus with excited anticipation. Eager upperclassmen greeted freshmen and tried to make the transi- tion to college a little easier. Team leaders looked forward to sharing their past v lifcit experiences ofclasses andteachers, spiritualgrowth, anddorm lifewith theirsmall j groups. "I think our love for the campus came out and they could sense it," team leader Amy Ewing said. The new students agreed that these small groups were a personal and positive aspect to their first week on campus. Funandhelpfulactivitiesfilledorientationweek.Theweekkickedofifwith an ice creamsocial andwrapped upwithanewstudent banquet. In between those events,theschoolhostedapizzaparty,adrive-inmovieandawelcome-backpicnic. The new students looked forward to these events as a good break from the many informational that packed their first days. "They were all good opportunities to meet new people," freshman music major Michael Doutysaid.
