BERENBERG, M.D. 1977 MARTINUS NIJHOFF MEDICAL DIVISION -THE HAGUE This volume is based on the proceedings of a conference held under the joint auspice, of the Josiah Macy jr. Foundation and the International Children's Center in Paris, December 14-16, 1976. HOMMAGE TO DR. NATHALIE P. MASSE During the conference, the Macy Foundation presented a plaque as an en during memorial to the contributions of Nathalie Masse, and the following comments were made at the ceremony: "Nathalie Masse was Professor of Pediatrics to the world. More than a thousand pediatricians from scores of countries attended her classes in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. "Nathalie's many travels were made easier by her assurance that she would return to a loving husband, and himself a distinguished physician, Paul Masse. "Her professional life was intertwined with that of her patron and France's most distinguished medical statesman, Professor Robert Debre. "She loved to recall leading the 'force de frappe', which, under the orders of Robert Debre, converted an abandoned chateau in the Bois de Boulogne into the splendid Centre International de L'Enfance that we meet in today. "Nath-alie Masse was lovely in her features; she was endearing and loved people; and she was a remarkably versatile scholar. "She died in August, 1975. "We mourn her loss, but today we wish to express our thanks and to rejoice for the children of the world who benefitted from the life of Nathalie Masse." JOHN Z. BOWERS CONTENTS Hommage to DR.
