Track OncI Airtumn A day in the life of Bourne High School is filled with Pa^c 5 academics,electives,extracurriculars,andsupportivefaculty andstafftoguideusthroughitall. AtimelineofatypicaldayatBHSgoessomethinglikethis: Students exit their cars and buses between 7:00 am and 7:25am.Duringthattimeperiod,studentscanalsobefound running around getting passes to the guidance office and favoritestudyhallspotssuchastheLibraryand Mrs.Cox's computerlab. Academics ensue through the rest of the day, and vary fromtheareasofmathematicsandsciencetoEnglish,history, andforeignlanguages. Electives intertwine with academics throughout the day Track Twol and range from art, theater arts, broadcast, and print journalism to woodshop, mechanical drawing, physical Seniors education, and a variety ofother electives. Lunch time is a Pa^c32 studentfavorite,atimewheretheycansitandrelaxwiththeir friendswhilerefuelingfortheremainderoftheschoolday. Asthebellringsat1:47,signalingthearrivaloftheendof the school day, students race to their buses and various afterschool activities, which include club meetings, sports practices and games, drama club rehearsals, and extra help withteachers. 6tl1 Music is a great symbol for the student body of Bourne High School, for as different as we are, we are all unified through our academics, electives, and extracurricular involvement, and can look back on this book and be remindedofthat. ewef rom e eaiior This Ljeap s theme, Soundtrach fop Life, is an apppoppiate peppesentation of the Class of2010. It is no SGCPot that there are manL| different qenres in the wide world of music, as there are manij different personalities in our class. But just as the world of music joins together to honor each other s accomplishments at various awards shows, we join together as the Bourne High School Graduating Class of2010. Thenightbeganwithashortspeech by Principal Ron McCarthy,whodescribed theeveningtobe, “Anighttorecognizesomeofthebeststudentsintheschool.” The Principalthenfollowed hisspeechwiththe recognitionoftheprestigious college bookawards recipients. Followingthe bookawards, Mr. Hartykickedofftheteacher’sawardswith a humorousspeech proclaiming he“bribed Mr. McCarthyfifty, notwenty-fivedollars tobethefirsttospeak.” Hethenwentontotellastoryabouthisnominee,Tyler Fournier, anoshowto Mr. Harty’sdisappointment. While notallstudentswereon handto receivetheiraward, everyoneenjoyed listeningtothespeeches. Ahighlightofthenightwas howallthe Englishteachershonoredtheirrecipients with poetry, whichwasatremendoustreat. Mrs. McDonald, Mrs. Casey, Mr. Dow, and Ms. Maiaall hadwonderful poemsdescribingtheoutstandingstudentsthey hadchosen. Mr. Mathermadean inspirationalspeech describing his recipient, Andrew Puopolo, exclaimingthatsuccessis, “twentypercenttalentand eightypercent perseverance.” Lauren Lage-McAdamswasalso recognizedas, “havingenthusiasmforlife,”and“a joytohaveinclass,”byMr. Geist. Atouching momentoccurredwhen Mrs. Murphysanganodetoheraward winner, MichelleGilbert, wholookedquiteshocked. Mr. McNeealsogotintothe ^. spiritofcreativityand readapoem in Spanglishtohisoutstandingstudent, Matthew|" Mellin. Theteacher’sawardsendedwith Mr. Bushy’sbriefwordsabouthisnominee, Latesha Page,which hadthewhole room laughing hysterically. Principal Ron McCarthythen announcedthehighestranking person ineach class. Fortheclassof2012 MirandaKalbackwashonored, with DanielleGarceau proudly representingtheclassof2011. Theclassof2010wasatie,withtwotop seniorsthisyear, MatthewMellin and Rebecca Faria.
