This publication contains all papers presented and discussed in plenary and separate sessions. The order in which the lectures were actually delivered has been changed in the present volume, with regard to the subject and the methods employed. Accordingly, the discussions have had to be arranged. It is a pleasant duty to thank all the participants for describing the latest results of their research and for discussing the various findings. To Prof. C. Stormont we owe many thanks for his very original and stimulating leader ship of the discussion. We hope that the meeting in Prague provided the opportunity to bring together the investigators working with animal blood group systems and discuss common problems and exchange ideas and points of view. It is my sincere wish that this book should remind us not only of the scientific results, but also of the cordial atmosphere - not less important and necessary for research and human relationships.
