FFeedback wwill be gatheered and coontinuously reviewed; they will bee collated too form new revisions at appropriatte intervals.. It is expeccted that this standard will undergo a relatively rapid evoolution process, as the industtry adapts too the impliccations and advantagess of BIM meethodology. 1.6 RReferencces This standdard is writtten with refeerence to thhe followingdocumentss: • BS1192:2007 • PAS1192-2:20133 • BS8541-1 and BS8541-2:20011 • AEC ((UK) BIM Protocol v2.00 • AEC ((UK) CAD SStandard for Layer Namming v3 AEC(UK))BIMProtocolFForGRAPHISOOFTArchiCADD-v1.0.docx Page 6of 422 AEC (UKK) BIM Protocool for GRAPHISOFT ArchiCCAAD 1.7 DDefinitionns The followwing terms aare providedd in additionn to those inncluded in tthe AEC (UK) BIM Protocol aand are termms specific tto GRAPHISOFT ArchhiCAD and aare referredd to throughouut this protocol. Attributess ArchiiCAD utilisees a series oof ‘attributess’ which aree designed to manaage the projject. These include layyers, line typpes etc. BIM Servver A serrver systemm specificallyy for the stoorage and mmanagemennt of ArchiiCAD Teammwork files. GDL Geommetric Desccription Langguage. ArchhiCAD’s staandard object formaat. Hotlink An exxternal file rreferenced into other AArchiCAD filles. IFC Indusstry Foundaation Classees, the interrnational filee format, maintained by buildingSMAART for the exchange oof Building Informmation Moddels. Layout The ssource struccture of pubblished drawwings. LCF ArchiiCAD contaainer file for Libraries. Masters Master layout shheets contain title blockk informatioon, which appeears on layoout sheets uusing a particular masteer. Office This is the officee generic template setuup by the coompany BIMM Templatee Manaager and thee basis for Project Temmplates. PLA Archiive project ffile format. PLN Single user projeect file formmat. PMK ArchiiCAD externnal Drawingg file format. Profile Sectional 2D shaape used too represent complex mmodel elemeents. Project A temmplate creatted specificcally for a paarticular prooject which will Templatee contaain project sspecific infoormation. Teamworrk A typpe of ArchiCCAD project which facilitates multipple-user acccess usingg object-leveel databasee technologyy. TPL Tempplate file forrmat View A gennerated renndition of graaphical or nnon-graphiccal information (a plaan, section, elevation, schedule, oor other vieww of a projeect). Backup prrocedures ffor Unshareed BIM Projeects will follow the genneric protocools but backup prrocedures foor Teamwoork / BIM Seerver projectts will differr. All users oon a Teamwwork / BIM SServer projeect should ssend and reeceive their data to the BIM SServer at thee end of thee day. The BIM SServer can have two backup procedures. A sscheduled BBIM Server Backup can be runn at set inteervals (default hourly),which will ssave a compplete copy oof the project intto the Project Backup ffolder with ccontrol overr how manyy of these too keep. It is advisaable to set tthis to keepp one wholee day’s backkups. The ggeneral officce backup prrocedures wwill then bacck these up for offsite sstorage. The seconnd BIM Servver backup, which cann be scheduuled, is the ssaving of a PLN file into the BIM Server PProject Backkups folder. This can bbe scheduleed for a specific time but wwill only be pprompted foor executionn when a client machinne sends annd receives. It is therefoore advisable that the pperson responsible setss the schedduled time and ccarrying outt a send and receive immmediately after. An alternaative to the scheduled saving of a PLN as above, is for tthe person responsibble to manuaally save a PLN file froom the BIM Server Projject, to a sppecific Backup foolder in the Main Serveer Project Foolder. These backup PPLNs shouldd have the date aadded to thee name of thhe Project. These can then be maanually deleeted as their neceessity is deeemed to be supersededd. AEC(UK))BIMProtocolFForGRAPHISOOFTArchiCADD-v1.0.docx Page 9of 422 AEC (UKK) BIM Protocool for GRAPHISOFT ArchiCCAAD Note: Wheen writing sscripts for auutomatic baackup proceedures, ensuure that ArcchiCAD BIM Serveer’s Projectt Backup follders are inccluded but tthat the livee data files aare excluded unless a sccript is set too stop the BBIM Server during backkup. 4.5 RReviewinng BIM DData BIM data for any projject should be revieweed at regularr intervals bby the persoon responsibble for the prroject, althoough team mmembers shhould exert a duty of caare when worrking on proojects. Ensure that users acccessing prooject files haave the apppropriate exxperience foor the level of acccess they aare given. BBIM Exploreer (BIMx) is a useful toool for reviewwing models ass this will noot allow moddelled elemments to be aamended. Drawings should be rreviewed ass a non-edittable file suuch as PDF or DWF. A Teamwork environment gives the greatesst control ovver a user’ss editing righhts. AEC(UK))BIMProtocolFForGRAPHISOOFTArchiCADD-v1.0.docx PPage 10of 422
