Shilts, Chief 615 East Peabody Drive Champaign, Illinois 61820-6964 Acknowledgments The GeoRefdatabase from theAmerican Geological Institute provided a majority ofthe citations used in this publication. Various other databases, includingthe ISGS library catalog, were also searched. Citaitons were verified when necessary. GeoRefis used as a basis forthe level ofdetail forthe indexing. The earlier published bibliography, ISGS Bulletin 92, was indexed at avery high level ofdetail, but this publication uses slightly broader terms. Many scientists at the ISGS gave helpful advice during the compilation ofthis publication, especially Richard Cahill, Leon Folmer, David Grimley, Beverly Herzog, Russell Jacobson, David Larson, Timothy Larson, Zakaria Lasemi, Jack Masters, Donald Mikulic, RodNorby, Russel Peppers, and Colin Treworgy. Kristi Mercer performed the tedious foundation work ofimportingthe GeoRefrecords into the ISGS database in a usable form; she also provided valuable comments and supportthroughout the time-consuming process ofcompiling this publication. Greg Martin provided the computerprogrammingthat allowed the computer database to be converted to the printed version easily and efficiently. Contents Acknowledgments ii Introduction iii Bibliography 3 Index 351 Introduction This bibliography and index covers publications and articles on Illinois geology from 1966-1996. This bulletin updates ISGS Bulletin 92, BibliographyandIndex ofIllinois Geology through 1965. This current publication includes citations for all ofthe field ofresearch atthe Illinois State Geological Survey, including (but not limited to) geology, groundwater, industrial minerals, petroleum, coal, environmental geology, geochemistry, and geophysics. Publications are included only ifthey relate specificallyto Illinois. Monographs, journal articles, conference proceedings, theses, maps, guidebooks, and reports are amongthe publications cited. In addition to the citations from 1966 to 1996, eleven titles are included that were published priorto 1966 but omitted from Bulletin 92. Every effort was made to ensure that this publication and index is complete; however, individuals who are aware ofomissions are requested to contactthe Illinois Survey so thatthe bibliographic database can be corrected. The initial part ofthis publication is a bibliography, arranged alphabetically by author surname and, second- arily, within identical authorship, by date. Followingthe bibliography is an index that includes both subjects and locations. This bibliography and index is also available on the ISGS Web site.
